Yeah, it's called NFL history. The mass mass majority of P/PK's go in rounds 5-UDFA for a reason. Why? Because a P has little barring on the outcome of a game compared to all other positions. In fact, maybe the least.

The reason why we broke the internet was because what we did was an outlier...8th pick in the 4th round.

Are there other outliers? Sure, mostly for PK's because they actually put points on the board and affect the outcome of a game more.

The NFL refused to consider soccer-style kickers for decades, then Don Shula shocked the league with Garo Yepremian and soon soccer-style kickers were all the rage.

Teams copy success. "Traditions" die.

I can't wait. He's not only going to be a STW but will do both punts and place kicking and save Paraag a bunch of money...on Jed insurance.

I write of Yepremian out of childhood memory. He was really considered something of a freak, a curiosity. Shula's advantage in the kicking game year-in year-out changed that.

I didn't mind the pick, but the only thing is he might not get a lot of opportunities which is good as I don't see our offense will get bog down on our end. Even if we offensively start deep in our end, a couple or few first downs and and our offense is already on the defensive side of the field. So for me, it's a good pickup but I don't see it as a knockout pick due to our offensive potential. Even if he got picked at 4th, you can always get the next tier of punters later like Bailey and use the 4th pick for something else. Overall, the pick is alright.

Hmm I don't have the same confidence in our offensive potential. Most of our offensive line isn't that good. But let's say for a second that you're right. You know that situation when you're on the other team's 40 or thereabouts, and it's fourth down, and you know the odds are long if you kick a field goal, but a punt is likely to go in the end zone? This guy gets a lot of air under the ball, and is very precise, so he will get the ball down inside the 10 yard line. So there's that.

Strange he didn't come out this year.

One of them positions where you aren't risking health and draft position by staying. Probably enjoys college and wants to finish degree.

Why kick for free when you dont have to?
In college it is fun, in the NFL it is a job?

Weve had the best kicker in football, which is extremely valuable, considering how bad it can get when you dont have a good one.

Juszczyk has made the Pro Bowl both years hes been here.

Punters do WAY more for your team than people ever admit. Field position is HUGE. Getting pinned back inside your own 10 is pretty much dead from the start. A good punter can change games.

Oscar has become extremely snobby and sarcastic since he got into the film scouting game. I stopped listening to his podcast years ago.
Getting pinned inside your own ten against Deforest Buckner, Nick Bosa and Dee Ford.

I hope is just as good as advertised.

If so, then an important part of the puzzle is in place.

Lol if we're getting excited about what our punter is doing or not doing, we're having a s**tty season.

I mean the Seahawks were pretty psyched about their guy last year when he did his thing. If Mike Wazowski can flip the field the way Dickson did for them regularly, that is going to give a big boost to the defense.

Absolutely!

Pinning a team at the 10 w/our pass rush will be sweet.
Punter in the 4th? Lol idiots
JL and KS obviously think more of the roster than WZ does... and that's fine with me so long as it pans out. They certainly dialed up the pressure on themselves with this pick, which sort of makes me like the decision.

They know the stakes, they knew they'd get roasted for it, and they pulled the trigger on the punter anyways.

They'll either look like geniuses when the interior line and defensive backfield ball out next year, or they'll be in serious jeopardy of losing their jobs.

I'm kind of stoked, not going to lie.
LET'S ALL BE HONEST HERE...

Even the Lyna-Han combo are hoping that they will not ONLY be remembered as the GM and the HC that drafted THE POLISH POWER !!!

Now, if coverage isn't the worst in the league in passes 2.5 seconds or less again, they will FEAST!

Saleh will move to the booth just to watch the carnage unfold.
