Juszczyk has made the Pro Bowl both years hes been here.
Punters do WAY more for your team than people ever admit. Field position is HUGE. Getting pinned back inside your own 10 is pretty much dead from the start. A good punter can change games.
Oscar has become extremely snobby and sarcastic since he got into the film scouting game. I stopped listening to his podcast years ago.
This team is such a joke. You don't over spend draft picks and money like that. I can see why they lose year after year.

"Everyone knows he's the best punter in the draft, and when is he going to go, and you always want to take that as late as possible," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said of Wishnowsky. "You'd love to do it in the seventh, but I promise you we wouldn't have gotten him if we tried to do it in the fifth. That's why the Patriots traded up to take next guy in the fifth."
But, but, but... he would've been available in the 6th!
Why risk losing your guy because you're scared what uninformed people might say? Our guys made the right call.

The anti lynch crowd is growing by the day.
But i think this punter is the most hated player on this team. I like the pick but i may be in the minority.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the QB position

What people don't understand is that Kyle said that Greenlaw had a 4th round grade for them. So, would it make you happier if we took Greenlaw at 110 and a punter at 148?
Another question is if he was the best punter of all time, how high would you be willing to draft him? Are you in the never draft a punter camp, than it doesn't matter where we drafted him.
Finally, I'm sure one of the 53 players drafted in between our 4th and our 5th will be good, but we can only draft one of them. Without the power of hindsight, put your money where your mouth is and go on record and say which player you would have taken that would make it worth it missing out on a top 5 NFL punter. We can come back in 5 years and see if you were right and our FO was wrong.

You could always go to the shadow draft thread. That might be fun to review down the road.

Punters shouldn't even be eligible for the draft imo.

What's the success rate of 4th round picks being impact players anyways? All this talk about we should have taken this or that guy instead and we'll be lucky to see more than 2-3 impact players come out of the entire 4th round. These picks are mostly role players anyways. You make an unconventional pick but land a guy who will hold this spot for 10 + years.
Look at out recent history of guys we've taken in the 4th round.
2015 Blake Bell, DeAndre Smelter
2016 Rashard Robinson
2017 Joe Williams
2018 Kentavius Street
Many had high hopes for these guys but 4th rounders usually are nothing more than role players. I'm pretty sure 1 or 2 guys drafted in the 4th round this year will turn out to be impact players, but Wishnowsky is a sure bet to be in this league for a very long time. Ideally you would have loved to wait a round but most of these other 4th rounders will be flops anyways.

Our success rate has been garbage. But teams like the Pat's destroy the 4th-7th rounds. The overall average is probably pretty low. 50% in the first, 30% in second, etc.

He was only a 5th rounder.
But, they probably thought a P on a rookie contract was a better option than paying Pinion.

Unless Pinion was sucking. I would've rather paid him the extra 2 million a year we were saving and used that high 4th round pick on a good prospect.

You took the words right out of my mouth...
I'd like to know who Oscar thinks we should have taken in the 4th...
Honestly he's not that bright

Not that my opinion matters, but I hear ya.
I don't condemn the pick and I hope he balls out. I just wonder if he was the
only P they found acceptable. I get the feeling that he got the nod because he's a safe bet for a rookie contract and because they can use him for some trick plays.
