Yeah the guy can motor. I hope Hightower puts in a fake punt play. Just put it on film once and other teams will have to take time preparing for it. Might as well take advantage of his athleticism.

I don't have an issue with selecting a punter in the middle 4th round. Andy Lee flipping the field was an impactful part of the defense so I get the importance of a good punter. We just need Wishy to be a good punter and not just 'solid'. You can get solid punting in round 7 or UDFA. Punters drafted mid 4th have to be good, very good. I feel like punters should be bust proof. Catch ball, kick ball - exact same thing as it was in college.

Or unless the front office is incompetent. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

And the instant reaction was "we could have got him in the 6th," until the patriots trade up to take the 2nd best punter in the 5th.

But it's the Patriots so none of their picks can be reaches. -Webzone logic

Wishnowsky our real OW.

He needs to be a top 3 punter to justify this selection. Solid top 10 punter is not good enough to warrant a mid 4th. There were a couple of safeties and a bunch of guards selected soon after Wish was picked. If any of those guy become solid players, I'd rather have those guys.

A couple successful fake punts with him using his run ability and that would help me understand why he was valued so highly. I don't know if Kyle goes there (punt fakes), don't think he has in the past. Still, mid 4th I'd rather take a shot in the dark at a possible offensive/defensive starter.

Not for me.... but I'm a homer for this guy...... I mean....not hom.....NTTIAWWT.. I said guy not ga... GAY is the other punter taken in the draft.. Oh heck I give up.

I am still pumped and hope it works out I'll just get back in my clos...place.

That's not right. Mitch's mate the kicker is Gay.

You right. His partner at Utah is Gay but Wish is not Gay. He is a punter who kicks off and the Gay guy who is not gay Kicks and punts on horses. (I made that last part up).

The Gay guy did not win the Ray Guy medal which Mitch Wish did. Betcha Mitch wishes he was Ray and happy he is not Gay. Although being Gay would be fine since he got in a NFL team too.

Mitch was all American for 3 years in a row but is Australian.

Now Mitch is gonna help the Niners win a world championship in a national competition.

Who said he shouldn't be picked in the 4th.

More than likely he doesn't make it to their next pick. To me, not that big of a deal, especially not worth 30+ pages of whining. Besides most of the suggested players, posters thought they should have taken instead, were available in the 6th, 7th & UDFA. They would have been a reach too.

I was shocked they took him but glad they did.

Coaches are starting to look at every edge they can get nowadays. With what the Prokick guys are doing in college and now NFL. It's just not about a long boot anymore. Trick plays and an arsenal of different punt styles plus running, catching, passing, tackling, kick offs and field goals are all on the table. And with KS/Hightower running the show it could be fun to watch.
Love this pick..

The good thing is when you get a punter in the draft you have a good history to gauge him on his distance, hang time and accuracy. You know what you are going to get. They can start straight away and less likely to be a dud. Sure they still have stuff to learn but the transition will not be as big a step as for an offensive or defensive draftee.

The later have a steep learning curve to step up to the big league as well as playing amongst bigger men.

The later might show potential but not cut in the NFL as they fail to up skill quickly enough, or at all, or they get injured due to more physical contact or training too hard when they are trying to make the grade. How many blow ups have there been because of this?

I would suggest there is more chance of Bosa being a dud due to injury or getting beaten up playing against big experienced Oline guards and blockers then there is of Wishnowsky getting injured or lacking the skill in the big league. We know he can kick at an elite level and he is a ten year investment. Long term.

The odds are Bosa will be great but will he still be here in 10 years or even after 3 years?
