Yet another impressive highlight from Wishnowsky. The athleticism to juke the defender out of his cleats, then he punts it 40 yards off his opposite foot. He also would've pinned them inside the 2 if the ref didn't blow the call and rule it out of bounds at the 13.

This is something I forgot to mention in post #880, a lot of AFL players have the ability to kick off either foot. The off foot is usually weaker but still good enough for a chip to a teammate or to give it a thump to get the ball clear of trouble. Wisho goes pretty good off his left.

AFL, Australian for Ultimate Frisbee.

Yeah, nearly 30% is actually really good. It's 50% for round 1. But the missing point here is projecting those players to OUR roster and that 30% goes up significantly. To a Championship roster, down to 10%. Throw in our 5-year injury history and the odds increase that even if player X doesn't win a starting spot outright, he'll still play significant snaps. I think there were a lot of players that could have provided much more value at bigger, more important positions of need. But like you said, ShanaLynch have their own board...and it certainly doesn't match up to the rest of the NFL by conventional standards.

Just because they become starters doesn't mean they are actually any good. Lots of bad OLs across the league that are still starting. Hell Jordan Devey still has an NFL roster spot.

Agree

Still hoping for a camp cap causality

He will be right mate. Australian Football League players are used to punting under pressure and being accurate. NFL gains yards by the QB passing it forward to a player or passing to a running back to barge through the DL. In AFL they punt it to gain forward ground until in goal range. The basic skill in AFL is to punt it the required distance to your player or to the goal and hence you must be accurate and be able to do it under pressure, sometimes on the run with opposition players running at you from any angle.

See the clip below of AFL and where Wishnowsky honed is incredible skills. This guy is the best Aussie punter to get into the NFL. Forget Dickson and the others Wishnowsky will make new benchmarks and be a top shelf player. Great investment for the 49ers!

Yet to be determined. Dicko did some uncommon (for NFL) things for SEA last year. Mitch has yet to take to the field. Lets not pump the tyres to bursting point before he has done anything ... please.

I don't think Wishnowsky is going to end up in a court room or potential jail. Much different character type

Would Wishnowsky be Mitch-o, Wishno, Wish-o, Wizz-o?

Not refering to mitch, just the excessive drooling (by aussie invaders) that happened in this place.
I believe mitch will succeed, but saying at this point he will all but revolutionise the position is a little early.

My man.

Let the young man find himself first.
This is awesome but "Illegal man downfield" is going to be called with every botched snap/bobble in the NFL.

This is something that kind of wigs you out. You see this guy kicking right footed, and then suddenly when he is trapped and running L, bam...out comes the L footed kick. I laughed when i first saw it but bet your bippy, kyle uses this somehow this yr....and more than once , too.
why i am not surprised people have found time to hate on the most dynamic punter prospect the 49ers could have brought in this year.

Every ounce of press on the guy shows him to be exceptionally talented....uniquely talented....and people still want to complain.

the 49ers got an amazing punting prospect....end of story.....

I don't really see hate for the guy, just the league standard perceived "value" of the pick.

When people talk being good in all three phases, does that include special teams? Or have i misunderstood what is referred to by phases?

Definitely Wisho for mine. I bet that's what his mates back in Perth called him.
