There's nothing wrong with it if you get a good one. Dickson was fantastic for Seattle. They don't regret it.

The issue is what they aren't addressing. But punters can easily be worth 4ths.
Pin the opposing team inside the 5. Send our nascar dline = safety's!!!

Funny, I just posted about this guy right before we took him, saying we should take him in the 6th with one of the picks we got in the trade down.

First, he's an Aussie, who are now being recruited for their unique kicking skills that most American kickers don't have (due to playing soccer rugby etc)

He runs a 4.6, so we could potentially use him for fake punts.

He averaged 45.7 yards per punt, which is #5 in NCAA history since 2000.

He was also a fair catch and touchback machine... its great we have drafted someone that can immediately contend as the best punter in the league.... but still the 4th f*cking round. Decent LBs and DBs still on the board... maybe they really think the talent drops off at this point so they grab the best at another position but JFC.

I need to watch the highlights on him.

We are way too thin at LB to be drafting a punter in the 4th.

Maybe Deebo will play LB and Hurd will play SS (ODW) Offense/Defense weapons.

Were switching to a 4-2-5 base defense. We can lose a couple of linebackers and not miss a beat.
We drafted a 27 year old punter with a 4th round pick. There were lots of other needs for this team to fill. There were still some good players available on the board. Just a ridiculous pick. You can get a punter in the 7th round or UDFA.

This team needs to watch film on how the Patriots draft. These last 2 picks especially prove they don't know what they are doing.

It really is. I can't believe some are defending this movie. Just goes to show some would literally defend any move and blindly follow Lynch even though his history so far has been very spotty.

......

Patriots took a long snapper in the 5th a couple years ago. Bad example of a team if you want to criticize taking special teams too early.

So he'd handle kickoffs too? Excellent.

Does he hold for FGs? Pinion did that for us the last few years.

The guys in the draft threads said yes. That opens up a position for possible extra te, we, or rb.

"But the patriots are great and can afford to do that"

I would bet money this is all about statistical manipulation...so in a few years somebody can say we drafted "xyz" amount of starters......

Guaranteed this guy is going to be under a hard microscope every single time he kicks lol
Some fun facts to look at punters and where they are drafted historically:

Shannylynch knows bestest.

Don't you dare question this pick!

definitely one positive take from this pick... although if we stand pat with our DBs and O-Line I'm going to continue to scratch my head
