We got to resign him. Guys come back from Achilles all the time. He'd come cheap because of his injury history.

I'd go for Baun or Bolton.

If it's a cheap one year deal definitely do it. If not, as much as he's one of the most important part of the team we don't have the luxury of spending money on a guy who couldn't make it back from a major injury. It may be smarter to target a safer option. Probably will get priced out but would love Jamien Sherwood

Yeah, I agree - sign him to a one year prove it contract, then go from there.

thing on baun is you want to get him before the breakout. he was not a very expensive player, but he just turned in a great season, so now he is high price. find the next baun.

Could be coachign as well. Look at how well Baun has played and now Oren Burks is balling out.

Got to let him go. Our D needs to find a reliable healthy alternative. Love the intensity but its useless when your always injured.

He missed a couple of games the two previous years.....and the achilles this year is a bad one, I admit.
Having said that, I am all for bringing back DG. He's the enforcer of the defense and a guy that gets others hyped up on play alone.

lol. no. you do your best to keep homegrown talent on the roster. and he's not always injured.

Couldn't agree more on this, he hasnt always been injured, he missed 3 games in 2020, 14 in 2021, 2 in both 2022 & 2023, and yes he missed 15 games this year, 64/100 possible games, only 2 years were injuries, that's not always injured, had he not torn his achilles in the SB, he'd have a huge market, might had been out of our price range, the achilles injury was something like a fluke/accident that you don't always see, he jumped, landed and then tore the achilles, Greenlaw when on the field in 20-24 our defense was so much better, if we have Bosa, Fred & Dre, our defensive is gonna roll, especially with DMo signed.

This feels like a lose-lose situation for John Lynch. If Dre is Dre and he's resigned on a 1-year deal, fans will be upset that Lynch didn't give him a long deal when he was cheapest, and they'll have to do this process again next offseason with Dre most likely pricing himself out of the 49ers' budget; if Lynch allows him to walk and Dre is Dre for another team, everyone is going to be pissed; if he gives Dre the bag but he ends up struggling with lingering injuries all year, John Lynch is an idiot for paying a player who clearly wasn't healthy.
I'd risk a multi-year extension
I say one year deal with player option for 2 more years worth more than the 1st year once he proves his health
Option is definitely the way. Big money, but put in the rip cords in case they need to cut ties.

We will see how Burks looks covering Kelce.
