The fact that he even participated / staying active is music to my ears...they'll probably baby him for a good minute (smart)

I love his athleticism. Reminds me of a bigger john lynch. Precisely what this defense needs from the Linebacker/Strong safety spot.

Comparing him to John Lynch!?! Oooookay

The guy that kind of cones to mind in comparing Greenlaw to is Ex 49 Jamie Winborn. Short, stout really athletic, aggressive LB's who are tough and fiesty and can be a little over aggressive.
Not comparing him to anyone, but looking at Nicky B, Deebo, Hurd, WISH...and then Dre? That just seems too good to be true. Nobody doesn't hat good with 5 picks. Well, almost nobody. No matter how you slice it, this was one helluva draft.

He played well in preseason game 1 but he didn't look that fast on the field.

To be fair, we thought similarly w/ the 2017 draft (before Foster went off the deep end, Witherspoon looked like a star, Joe Williams was the heir apparent, and Beathard was the "Shanahan type" future QB). Now, Kittle obviously has been great and Taylor looks good too, but my point is things can change. But I agree with you as we stand now.

I've been wanting the 49ers to get a safety that can thump on the run, instead they got a linebacker that can thump on the run and looks like a natural at coverage.

To me, he's kind of a hybrid that can key some deceptive coverage defenses that can fool a QB into throwing right into some defensive rotations for some interceptions. Robber coverage anyone?😁

I'd love for them to add more depth here next year, like another Greenlaw but to replace Ward.

The draft looks good so far. We shall see, but even assuming it is a good draft, they need another one next year to solidify some depth to make a playoff run more consistently.

Isn't that obviously the point for every single NFL team? To get better every year? LOL

You beat me to it...I'm very excited by the early results from this draft class but let's at least wait til the regular season to see what these guys can do. The 2017 draft class looked terrific at first and fell apart super fast.

Hopefully this class is the real deal because we really need them to be, especially after Foster being a knuckle head.
^^^no argument there, Giedi, but add in trade for Dee Ford and this was a yr of acquisition that was mind bending. Overdue, sure, but still unbelievable . Our obvious holes remaining are starter OG and starter DB...or two of each.

But think back just 28 months ago, and this team had two starters, Joe and Buck. We have come a long way from there. Not saying it's complete, but jimminy Christmas, this was one massive infusion of talent this yr. Way, way beyond expectations. The Richburg thing? Yup that set us back. But overall we are about + 12 on a 1-10 scale of how did we improve. Nobody was looking for this kind of increase in talent between. FA, trades and draft. Well, certainly not I.
