I didn't see him say that, but I've had someone, forget who, reply to me about stars on our team, he said Aiyuk was mediocre at best, Warner wasn't a top tier LB, Dre overrated, only stars in his eyes were Kittle & Bosa.

Wait...he seriously said that? lol
Dre Greenlaw is not a very good LB at all. Thanks.

He's a 5th round starter with playoff starting experience?! Sarcasm?

Greenlaw has had a good practice and I expect him to be a solid starter again, an above average LB in the league. This will be his 3rd consecutive starting season, seems like he's going to be a cap casualty because he'll command good money after next year.

I don't know, who do they really need to take care of next year other than Verrett maybe. If Lance develops the way they are hoping they could get out from under Jimmy's contract. Bosa and Samuel will still be on their rookie deals. They have taken care of Trent Williams and Kittle. They picked up McGlinchey's 5th year option but he seems like someone who could be more at risk of being cut than Greenlaw. K'wan Williams is on a one year deal but I think he will be over 30 next year so maybe he will decide to stay where he is or perhaps one of the rookies will step up. I don't remember what they did with Moseley this year, but he's another guy they might have to look at. I suspect Tarrtt is in his last year here if the kid from USC proves he can do the job. Seems to me that Greenlaw is the kind of guy you would want to keep around but if someone else offers him a boatload of money he might opt for that.

He has been hurt so much that he may well be looking for another big payday to secure his future since he is pushing 30 as well. He gave the Niners a discount this year but he won't do it again if he plays well. As much as I like Verrett's ability Greenlaw is younger and pretty darn good. As you said, some tough decisions ahead.

There seems to be a lot of moving parts that will decide Greenlaw's future with the team. Trent, Kittle, and Armstead will see their cap hits increase in 2022. Jimmy's contract will most likely be off the books. What to do with McGlinchey and Verrett? If Greenlaw puts up a good season, he may price himself out of the 49ers future plans. I'd really like to keep him past his rookie deal, but there are some tough decisions to make for the front office with some of these tier 2 players.
