I don't want to lose Greenlaw either but have to give up something to get something. And we need a CB badly. We need a quality #1 CB badly. To me it's our only weakness on this team.

I'd have to be a good starting CB. Greenlaw has excellent tape and a career-defining play, meaning he's known around the league.

No need to give up Greenlaw. There will be corners available near the trade deadline that you can acquire for a draftpick.

we don't need it badly, yet and so far
Lol @ anyone thinking we are going to get some bonafide #1/top rate cb for greenlaw. And i love greenlaw! He's awesome. But come on
What the hell is wrong with some of you? Why in the name of f**k would you give up Dre for a Corner? Really? We can go get people if we have to but some of you fundamentally don't seem to get that by giving up a piece here to get another that you have to NOW replace the piece you just gave up. Greenlaw is the second best LB on the team. He has more than paid his dues and stays largely healthy for us. AND HE IS ONLY GETTING BETTER.

We won't have Jimmy's contract next season which will be a good start in locking up both Greenlaw and Bosa, I don't see this as much of a problem

This. It will help a lot

If his groin injury is day to day that's great news. I just hoped Kinlaw could play

Greenlaw and a 4th RD pick to the Pats for Gilmore. Yes Gilmore is going to be expensive also to re-sign but I would rather pay a CB than a Linebacker. I don't think the Pats are going to re-sign him, So they will have to trade him at some point this season or let him walk for nothing. And I don't think Pats are SB contenders so it wouldn't make alot of sense for them to hold onto him.

I want to thank you for saving my life by posting this. I've been paralyzed since 2015 (look at my post history) and I've only been able to use my right hand and occasionally scroll through my phone. This post gave me the inner will to stand up, walk over to my balcony and chuck my phone 50' down the street.

In all seriousness, why would you trade a young leader in the making on one of the best defenses in the NFL. Who's on a rookie contract. Has a built a rapport with the best ILB.. all for a CB who is aging and just played alright last year? These guys aren't just cogs to a machine, it's more nuanced than that.

I wouldn't object to that at all. Gillmore was DPOY in 2019. So he had a worse year in a COVID-19 year with Cam Newton at qb and half of his D either injured or opting out.

A top 10-20 (at worst) qb is worth WAY more than a very good 2nd LB.

Who do you expect to help cover DK Metcalf and Lockette, Woods and Cupp or Hopkins? Not to mention if we face Davante Adams in the playoffs or Tampa Bays trio of Evans, Godwin or Antonio Brown.

If we reach the SB, who's going to cover Tyrek Hill, Or Diggs, hell even OBJ or Keenan Allen?

Answer.....Nobody. So he's absolutely worth having unless you think the so often burned Moseley who's been abused by many of the above wrs can do it or our rookie Demo.

For the record I would much rather offer a draft pick hopefully a third rounder or if we had to do a second rounder rather than give up a player like Greenlaw or AA

I'd be all in on giving up AA on a trade, but not Greenlaw, unless if it's for a top notch young corner.
Silly people tear down their house brick by Brock. Keep Dre, and let Paraag do his cap magic. Players like him don't grow on trees.
And who exactly would you replace Greenlaw with? It's not like the 49ers have quality depth at linebacker either. marcel harris??? Ridiculous that anyone would want to trade him.

🤣 We would have a roster that rivaled the Texans and Jaguars if we listened to 10% of the roster ideas in here.

It's a "what have you done for me lately" league. Sure, 30 isn't the end of the road, but it's not like he's magically going to regain a step. And what does having Cam have to do with Gilmore's performance?

I think your undervaluing our linebacker position. Okay you say who's going to cover all these Elite WR's. But Who's got the wheels to cover Russell or Murray, or Hurts, who can take off at any given moment and go head to head with Carson or Cook between the C and G the next. Azeez after one nice game? Marcell Harris?

And who won the super bowl last year? The Bucs with an insufferable pass rush and so-so corners. And two, that are border lines good-elite, and SMART linebackers with speed, can tackle, and can cover a lot of green. It's not like Brady played lights out that day either. He was efficient (21-29 201 yds 0 turnovers). And this is quite similar to how the Niners are built right now.

And why would give up AA?? Just because he doesn't do things that pad his stat line doesn't mean he isn't valuable. And who would you replace him with when Kinlaw is mending to his arthritic knees half the season?

Losing Verrett hurts. A lot. I get that. But to panic and compromise a position of strength giving up an coming player like Greenlaw to MAYBE get a boost at another position would be asinine. There's 16 games left with a great coach. We'll be alright.
