Mac played LT as a Leprichaun in college, I think he can handle the switch

Yeah and he struggled there in college. He's far better suited to play the right side. Why weaken two positions?

Skule played RT at Vandy, he is a rookie, play to his strength...

IMO, easier for Skule to play RT than learn a position he is not well suited to play like LT, where Mac already has a grasp of what it takes to play LT and could be serviceable with less help needed (RB chip, TE, etc.)

Skule didn't play RT at Vandy. He was their starting LT and the only sack he allowed was to Josh Allen.

did not know good catch, well then put him at his home position with a little help and see what happens

Dude better develop fast because he's got a long line of killers waiting for him starting with TJ Watt on Sunday and Myles Garrett after the bye.

I predict a lot of rollouts to the right side.

Again, this has never been stated to my knowledge by Lynch or Shanny. It's just assumed by fans is all.

Why would you draft a RT early in the first round with an aging LT if your intentions were not to move him to LT in the future?

Because in today's game, there's virtually no difference from LT to RT and you need BOTH. They were hoping to avoid being in this scenario for two more years with the Staley extension...probably try for another Staley-like prospect in next years draft or at least, the one after that.

There is a difference. Left tackle protects a right handed qbs blind side. Ends move around in this league regarding matchup. I'd much rather have Mcglinchy protecting Jimmy's back side than a rookie who had problems against nfl 3rd string pass rushers having to see a teams best rusher moving to his side every week until staley returns.

Not an issue in shot gun or PA game. A blind side can switch on a roll out to the left, which we do a lot of.

Switching sides is harder than people think it is, its something you do in an offseason if you do it at all. Flipping tackles now just gives him worse protection on both sides.

Exactly.

one will assume. a good steelers defense will be frothing at the mouth to try to expose this hole and get to jimmy

Steelers defense hasn't looked that good this year.
coming out of college, Skule's biggest weakness were being too top heavy and not getting low enough. Those are two things i hope we have helped him with since they seem pretty fixable.

They have a good defense? They're currently 29th in the league.
I'm Scared with this man at LT and no Staley.

UGH WHY STALEY!! He's such a good dude.

well i will meet you halfway... i think they are the best we have faced so far this year.. maybe not saying much. i guess i just assume a walking team with a good coach backed into a corner is dangerous.. maybe i am giving to much credit to tomlinson.. he will probably try to trip alexander

They didn't exactly have the easiest matchups.

I ain't too worried about it though. Except for the fact that we lost our franchise left tackle and they have a solid pass rush.
