I asked the same question and the response was move McGlinchey inside until Staley retires. I don't know how the coaches would view that but it sure would give them more flexibility if McGlinchey became a swing lineman.

Not ideal with his length but I have no doubt McGlinchey could play G for a year if he had an off season to train. If the goal was to stack as much talent as possible and get your best 5 out there, that's one way to go but it'll never happen with Trent Williams because of his contract demands and their owner is a petulant child.

Not everyone can come out of nowhere and be Trent Brown, 1 missed block and the promising season turns into the same s**t show from last season. But I'm confident Kyle is smart enough to scheme things to help skule out if he shows he can't handle it

I hear you. I want to be optimistic but damn.

This. Nothing rationale can be said here to make one think, "Yeah, our HOF T is being replaced by a 6th round top-heavy rookie. It should be fine."

But some fans are still trying. Bless their hearts.

Hope shouldn't be your primary personnel strategy.

We should all cry about it then. That'll definitely make it better.

Talk through it together.

You're probably right. Danial Snyder is definitely in the right town to be acting like a petulant child.

McGlinchey is way too tall for the G position. Staley would be more of a candidate for the G position. I always assumed that he would make the move when he slows down a bit and speed edge rushers become too much for him to handle. He has enough strength to hold up in the middle and would be really effective in run blocking
Hoping to have some film of him posted tomorrow. But, he's solid in the run game, not sure about the pass pro. Against backups, he looks good. He held up one time against Bradley Chubb and then got dominated the next play.

I heard Thl408 is a certified suicide counselor, he's available 24/7 on the 'zone, folks should take advantage of his services!

Here's a sneak peak at what I'll be covering in the Skule video. He's got great lateral movement - a must have for a lineman in this offense. Watch how he seals off Geno Atkins.

Skule is a former TE. His footwork was a strength in college reports.
Skule might hold his own. He has a lot of good experience at LT. But inexperienced at NFL level. Interesting...he might not be as bad as we think he would be

I think he may surprise some people. The staff kept him above Young and Brunskill, and a bunch of other guys they had in or looked at.

Just before the cuts, I did a bunch of research on him and Brunskill. Both are former TEs that converted to OT. Skule had two years at OT in the SEC. Brunskill only one year but made second team all-conference. Brunskill is more raw but has the skill set Kyle wants. Skule is more polished of the two, just needs to get his pad level down for more power. (Let's see, do we know anything about TEs who converted to OT and did well in the pros? )

I went back and watched the 22 plays he was in Sunday. He won all of them except for one where he was stalemated. He was taking good angles and moving people. Only 2 passing plays and neither required him to hold anyone out for an extended period.

Dude did a backwards centipede move on the ground.

He'll easily be why Staley or even McGlinch take a back seat to him on the bench!!

Practice Squad at best

This

He may have to hold off on his dreams as a Bronze Medalist for awhile

Sounds about right...

Damn it I was clowning this guy back in camp

Now I have to eat my words and pray he doesn't get Jimmy killed

Hopefully he's been practicing more technique as an olineman instead of his break dance moves...

Good point about quick passing. You don't need Left OT's to hold for more than 4 seconds in Kyle's system. 2.5 to 3.5 seconds is a good enough time for, I bet, 80% of Kyle's passes in this offense.

What was his pre draft analysis?
