This thread is surprisingly pretty optimistic about him. Gotta keep in mind that he was a 6th round pick for a reason with some people saying he may not even make a roster. Good tackles usually don't last long in drafts. Hope he does as well as some of you think he will

agree. i get the need to try to be positive and maybe he will shock the world. but lets not forget who he is. of course i hope he does well. but 808 is wise here

We've done a decent job with late round picks. But my confidence is more in KS being able to scheme around him than him actually being individually good. Hoping he's a system fit and maybe our scouting saw that and got him for great value.

Well, Vanderbilt is not known for developing great football players. However, he did go against several guys who are now starters in the NFL and he did OK against them.

Skule plays so good that Staley never sees the field again!

i'll take it, and we trade him before the deadline for more picks!

IDK about that but rewatching 4Q B Cinci I thought he looked good.

Agree, his run blocking was pretty good.

Like to add, he played in the SEC. One of the better competitive football division

Lets say he plays great. What do we do when Joe Staley come back?

Draft analysis says he's an average to good player, more quickness than strength. I hope he does so well, Joe can take the full 8+ weeks off to heal 100% instead of taking the minimum 6 weeks!

From what I saw in game, he moves well, he has good strength, and if he can hold pass rushers off for somewhere around 3 seconds, Kyle doesn't need to really scheme around him.

Overview:

Top-heavy, high-cut swing tackle prospect who plays with a lack of bend and possesses average physical traits, but finds ways to get guys blocked using technique and football intelligence. The step up on competition may be too much for Skule in pass protection, but he may have enough agility to warrant an extended look as a player who can swing between guard and tackle either at the back-end of a roster or on a practice squad.

An article in The Athletic this morning noted the string of very good pass rushers he faced in the SEC every week. With one notable exception, he shut down Kentucky's Josh Allen for an entire game. There isn't a tougher conference than the SEC.

Here he is vs Kentucky (and some of the time vs Allen)
Did he attend the combine? I don't recall seeing him there. Dude looks a lot heavier than the listed 317 lbs. He's a chunky boi.

*Just looked it up, and he did not attend.

Nailed it with just, "top-heavy."
