Rookie becomes starter and gets one week practice for a real good front 7. Yeah he was pretty damn solid today.

And only will get better. I'm thinking if he keeps getting better, we may have our new left tackle.
overall can't complain too much. he had 3 penalties in the 2nd half (one questionable...) which were bad but what do you expect. He didn't get embarrassed and had some decent play. Mcglinchey got roughed up though.... ouch, maybe his worst game since the MN game last year (pass protecting anyways)

Yup for real, and seriously tho, if this is his worst game...I don't think they draft LT early next year

This whole thing may be a blessing, he is getting thrown in there but he is also getting valuable real game reps.

From a developmental standpoint this could be great for the team.

Yup for sure...could use that 1st rounder for another position of need.

Absolutely, we also don't have to use our 1st rounder on the O-line. Some good o-line talent comes outside of rounds 1 & 2.

Trent Brown was a 7th rounder!
Did well until announcer jinx

Does that mean Skule's destined to be replaced by a high 1st?

I think he did fine today. Seemed like a lot of plays went towards the right and Garoppolo got hit a lot, but IMO those are more on the scheming. For his first NFL start, he mostly did what was asked of him. Hopefully, he can keep it up and maybe even get the training wheels taken off before long.

Yea i was thinkin the same thing Watt was giving Mcglinchy problems. Jimmy played tough tho he was gettin his ass whooped back there only got sacked once tho thats wassup. Skule did good that block shouldnt have been a penalty. The hods got to stop tho hes gonna get better this game should be a huge confidence booster.

I like Skule, but the holding calls have to stop. It's a learning experience for him so hopefully he learns from it. But, if he wants to stay in there, he's got to clean the holding calls up.

It was his first start against a top ranked dline.

Yeah, I know. He can do better - got to be patient with him.
I don't want to be hard on Skule, but he got beat on several occasions. But, the Niners were just lucky that Garappolo got the ball out early, maybe earlier than he wanted.

Just watch the replays....

That might be troublesome against Garrett...
