Could you imagine if he took over for Staley in a few years. Talk about the steal of the draft possibly. We shall see, he's got a great mentor like Joe to learn from until that point.

If he continues to improve, that 1st round pick earmarked for a Left Tackle can be used to take a shot a Chase Young.

But yeah if ShanaLynch continues to hit a home run (assuming Skule wins a starting job a couple of years from now) drafting well in the day three rounds *and* in UDFA, the Capanomics will be easy to handle going forward.

Geidi...let's not get too hyped. The difference in talent between Staley and McGlinchey and this guy is pretty steep. But so far, he's up to the challenge and right now, at least looks like he could be a serviceable depth player, maybe even compete with Coleman whom the team just resigned.

BTW: The Steelers tried to play some mind games. They figured Kyle would scheme away from the left side and offer extra help over there so they said, eff it, we'll overload their right side and surprise them. It worked. I don't think Person and McGlinchey were expecting that.

No question. Very solid play.

You know he is going to massively improve his strength and skill set being on an NFL roster over the next few years. I'm not in anyway saying he becomes a pro bowl tackle, however I do believe he may be great to rotate or possibly take over in a few years depending on his development under Staley. Definitely has the size, brains, and power to do it, all depends on his ability to apply it.

He doesn't need to be all pro tomorrow. Just hold the spot until Staley returns and then when Staley retires (whenever that will be) he takes over. Assuming Staley stays for two years, that's enough time to see if Skule's got the talent to be the starter at Left Tackle. I think if you trust the workouts by the 49er college and pro scouting departments do on all these guys prior to inviting them to the team, I think you can trust Skule to play at the minimum NFL level. So even though Skule is less talented physically than McGlinchy or Staley, I think he can develop into the player that Shanahan needs on the left side for his offense. Talent is not static, it's dynamic and changing all the time. He's a young guy and he does have an upside potential to him, otherwise, he wouldn't be on the team.

Steeler Mind Games: I agree. Mike Tomlin is an excellent DC/Technician and he'll look at Kyle's offense and press on the weak points. You can't assume anything less than that. I still maintain, that the Steeler defense is underrated and a very good *run* defense. If not for those turnovers, Kyle would have operated his 4 minute offense in the 2nd half, and you wouldn't have seen so many hits on Jimmy because of that.

This is the big one for this offense. He's already taking to Staley and obviously is a quick study.
Happy to hear he did well.

But if CJ was in there instead of jimmy g then we'd have a much different report on Skule . Talking about how we badly need a LT since he gave up 5 sacks. Because in reality it takes CJ three times longer to get rid of the ball.

No need to drag CJ down in this thread. Let the boy rest.

God this is so true. So so true. I was thinking about it all week leading up to the game. Jimmy G is gonna help him look better because he can throw the ball on time. Jimmy G is a HUGE reason why our oline has been so good this year.

It does, that's why I said a HUGE reason and not the ONLY reason.
