They are "pooh poohing" Cohn, not Reynolds.

Yup.

I'm all for him making the squad and doing well, that said there's certain positions you can judge more than the trenches in OTAs, that's just the truth.

No its not. The Cone head is unreliable and an asshat most of the time.

reynolds comes from a school that does not know much but they do know how to develop o line guys. maybe our bar with our current guards is set very low but this kid will do some good things for us in my opinion. its not like some other guards stand head and shoulders above him . i love it when kids like him take advantage of a opportunity

So much this! You know how it is though, we jump to conclusions for better or worse here lol

the fact that we have such a glaring need for guard help factors into some of us jumping on the bandwagon of ross.

"Ross Reynolds, G, Iowa"

"cciowa"

i hate iowa football. i hate kirk f. i hate iowa fans. but i also give credit because they know how to develop tight ends and offensive linemen. nice try though!

Just an obviously super-facetious joke, my friend.

sorry. they play a creme puff schedule.. scared to play on the road. blame the weather for losses. their fans have head lice.. and can not develop a quarterback. but they know about tight ends and o line guys

Like another poster pointed out...Grant is the boy who cried wolf, dude's takes are hot trash most of the time, SO if he ever says anything with substance it more than likely get's tossed in the trash with the rest of his junk.

Honestly you can't tell if a OL/DL are doing well or not in non-padded practices. I hope he balls out, not gonna truly know until TC and preseason games if he will stick on the roster.

Yeah, it's just cuz it was from Grant. There's a bit of an unhealthy obsession with fans right now with him...which simply benefits his cause. In fact, he's now doing AP stuff too so the haters just added to his career/content most likely. LOL.

The question is if this opinion from Cohn should be treated as reliable or not.

For two reasons I think everyone should have more than a healthy dose of skepticism about the opinion.

(1) How can anybody conclude that a UDFA offensive lineman is better than a different offensive lineman after watching three unpadded practices? It's hard to gleam ANY useful information from unpadded practices, and that's the most true for offensive and defensive lineman. it's just a bizarre proclamation to make given this context.

(2) Cohn has a long history of making proclamations like this that turn out to be ridiculous. He spent all last offseason proclaiming that Joe Williams was the best RB on the 49ers roster.

In total, this is 1) an opinion that can only be based on wildly insufficient information that is 2) coming from someone who has a long history of trolling for clicks with exactly these types of overheated opinions. Maybe it's true and maybe it isn't, but Grant Cohn proclaiming it's true after watching a few unpadded practices shouldn't move that needle for anybody.

That's not because I'm unhealthily obsessed with the guy -- I find him to mostly be predictable and boring, to be honest -- it's because I've been around the block before and know who's trying to sell me bridges during slow news cycles and who isn't.

I hope Reynolds turns out to be a gem. But I discount almost everything Cohn says.

I don't care who said it. If Ross is standing upright and he's from Iowa, he probably already is better than Joshua Garnett. LOL
