I think they are just throwing guys into the mix at this point. Get them into camp. Familiar with Kyle's offense, but he may be cut after camp with younger better competition.

Yeah, it's pretty underwhelming. One target every other game doesn't show much confidence. He did eek out 2 tds but I'm pretty sure the defenses just forgot about him.

He's an upgrade over Kaden. Why would we cut a #1 blocking TE, who's 6'8" and can catch and who's already proven in this scheme for a 6th round rookie TE? Kaden would have to ball out for sure to beat him. He'll be 28 in July.
Another Stanford TE in the mix. Toilolo caught 21 of his 24 targets last season for Detroit, 16 of them for first downs. #49ers https://t.co/KnV9yhlwsq

I'm not hot on this signing as everyone. I have this feeling he just maybe a vet to perhaps help push the younger guys along in the offense. Hope he stick with the team after camp but not so sure.

Kyle isn't messing around. After last year, dude is going to have 2-3 good backups for every position. We already know we have a QB that can win us a few games (Mullens), 3 starting running backs, D-lineman out the ass, and now tight-ends.
Kyle wasn't lying when he said that some good NFL players are going to get cut this season. Such a far cry from 2017 when John and Kyle were scouring the SF homeless shelters for wide receivers and DB's.

or kyle has decided.. you know what,,. we can do better than what we had last year. lucky with the tight end thing, we do not have to invest alot to upgrade this from last year

Now I know why we drafted Kaden. For leverage in talks with Tuiolololo.

Toilolo is probably competition/depth like Logan Paulsen was a couple years back.
Seems like Shanahan has been adding possession/jump ball options this offseason. IIRC Embree had some success with tree tall TEs (Marcedes Lewis, Joseph Fauria).

Maybe Celek can get us a 7th round pick?
Agree, or somehow unload him w/a player or 2 to get a quality Oline guy.
