Gotta work on that!

I wonder if he is trying to amp up his intensity and it's throwing him off a bit. Everybody is telling him to amp it up, so it's plausible that he is trying to do that. He's got good hands and seems to track the ball really well so maybe his amped-upness is throwing off the habits/reflexes he has developed as a finesse cat. If so, it may take him a bit to modify his habits/reflexes to account for the extra ferocity in his muscles as he amps it up without sacrificing some of the finesse cat that he is so good at.

Something to keep an eye on. Don't wanna see that keep happening.
ahkello looks confident, i like it. maybe he learned some better technique in the offseason.

I'm still concerned by Ahkello's refusal to get physical at LOS. Dude continues to open the gate to run and mirror WRs. It's like he doesn't realize he's 6-3, 200 lbs. I wish we could put DJ Reed's brain in Ahkello's body.

Wouldn't that fall more on the coaches though? I would assume he's following their instructions

Sherman, Reed, and Verrett are all being physical with WRs at practice.

It's likely just who Ahkello is. He's a big corner who plays small. Can't change how he's wired.

Yeah. Maybe the coaches feel he's better suited not playing physical at LOS due to this ...which sucks because he's a big CB. This seemed to be the knock on him out of college from what recall

I just remember last year, when guys got a step on him and he went into chase, he was toast. Probably trying hard to not let receivers get that step.

Did Hurd turn around and through his towel as the 15-yard penalty flag? Love it!
PS ?

The good news is the hard part is getting open (separation), he can work on hands. It worked for Vernon "stone hands" Davis, though he never really became a natural pass catcher.
