Lots of pressures though. Sacks don't tell a whole story.

Generating pressure and forcing QB's to throw quickly and into coverage is just as good if not better than a sack. Especially when it leads to TO's.

Does the "win" have to be early enough to influence the throw?

Against the giants in the 4th quarter there were snaps where we had free rushers inside and you could see jones get the yips.

But I don't remember a lot besides that.

I don't know what PFF constitutes as a pass-rush win, but in DL jargon, a win means defeating the pass set in a 1-on-1 situation. It's the first half of a pass rush. The second half of a pass rush is the finish(ie what constitutes pressures, hurries, QB hits and sacks). For example, when Nick Bosa double swipes away the tackles' hands and defeats the tackle's set giving him a pathway to the QB, that's a pass-rush win.

If the D line wins but the secondary has played too soft or the db isn't close enough and thers a completion that isn't on the d line.

I'm real happy that Kinlaw is off to a great start. If he can stay healthy, he will be a HUGE addition to our Dline and make life much, much! easier!

Well to put it in terms of how fast the 49ers pass rush is getting there on average. The QB has had an average of 3.04 seconds before the pressure forces him to either get rid of the ball or take a sack. The average time to throw for QB's through week 2 is 3.40 seconds before being pressured. So our pass rush is getting there 0.36 seconds faster than the average pass rush. That is damn close to where the eagles pass rush was last season.

Oh, I wonder how many other teams do this. If there are, it's new to me. I'm talking specifically about five DLmen in a three point stance.
