Been saying it since 2004, the 49ers need a Vince Wilfork type DT. But noooooope they continue to bring in 300 pounders who's tall and have problems stopping the run.

I'm a Miami fan and you reminded me of when we passed on Wilfork, traded back, and drafted Rashuan Woods.

Yea that was a no-brainer if there ever was one...

Watching the 2022 Washington game, TY McGill disrupted their run game a few times. Most notable was the double team that freed up Warner on the goal line stance at the end of the first quarter. McGill needs to be signed to the active roster, they gotta bolster the run defense more.

I would like to see McGill too. He isn't a splashy player but that's not what this run defense needs. Just someone that can give 12-15 snaps of being immovable. Sit Givens or Kinlaw.

Yeah I am thinking about McGill is played well and good fit our defense. I think Given and McGill should plays than AA and Kinlaw. I think AA and Kinlaw are not fit our defense scheme.

I'm watching the Ravens/Hawk game. Must admit I'm very impressed with the Ravens big boys on their DL. They are everything our DL isn't. Big 325 pounders who stop the run and collapse the pocket. No finesse like the Niners, just pure muscle!

Just magnifies that AA is toast and Hargrave isn't big enough.

They run different schemes. We don't ask our guys to 2-gap. AA/hargrave are one gapping penetrators. That's what this defense has been for years. Our S/LBers need to actually tackle. Our coverage needs to actually cover.

We DO need that beefy NT for a handful of snaps a game. Don't let them get 5+ yards on those early downs.

AA is absolutely a fit for this scheme. Kinlaw isn't a fit for anything at this point. He still plays too high.

Indeed. I'm hoping we get back to rushing 4 and calling the D how we did last year. I think this line can potentially eat more than we did in any other year, even with us off pace over the first 8 games. It'll be more on track once Womack is back in the lineup.

I am curious as to what their thoughts are going forward with the D-line. I doubt Young is here long term, but could a 2-year deal where he gets paid handsomely work? He'd get a bag with the chance to hit the market again while in his prime on the right side of 30.
The D-Line was excellent today!
yall mfers finally showed up.
whole crew looked fired up and excited to play ball yesterday.
When you go from a Ford Taurus in Drake Jackson/Clelin Ferrell to a 911 GT3 in Chase Young. This group now has the pieces to rival/best the 2019 pass rush.

Armstead- 12
Bosa- 9
Young- 5
Hargrave- 4
Kinlaw- 1

Mayfield was pressured on 52% of his dropbacks and had an average of 2.79 seconds to throw which was the 2nd lowest time to throw under pressure this week.
