Check Bosa's comments about the gameplan versus Hurts. Dude commentating the game kept thinking Bosa was getting owned by the right tackle.
It's pretty remarkable the DL has been able to hide the massive run defense weakness for the entire season without a single true run defending IDL on the roster sans maybe AA. 49ers basically play their base front with two guys that are natural 3 techniques. I think yesterday exposed how glaringly vulnerable we are up the middle. This scheme already puts a ton of strain on those two interior DL to hold up against a barrage of double teams, and it only exacerbates it when they're not built to take the punishment for a full game's worth of snaps.

This was an issue last offseason. I hope they address it next year. It doesn't even take much resources to do so. You can find quality run defenders on day 3.

Yup, AA is one of the keys, we saw with him out of the lineup that was our stretch of getting ran all over. Almost like we want to invite the run, and have a slew of pass rush options on the field.

wtf? It was supposed to be Bosa talking about how they played a containment rush. Removing video. No idea what that was.

I believe you can thank the league MVP and our offense for that, partially. It makes it a lot tougher to run the ball when a team is down my multiple TDs. I imagine a deep dive into the stats would show fewer rushing attempts being the culprit, rather than fewer YPC.

Suh won't help with the run D I don't think. When we played against him we could always move him. He is a force in the interior pass rush.
What we need is just a heavy body like Ridgeway last year, that clogs up the center of the field in passing downs. Kinlaw as broken down by Papa and Ryan plays too high and is easy to turn between his steps.

Hopefully both DT's are healthy and we don't need to worry about this. I'm optimistic they'll both be ready. Even if just one of them is that's a huge relief.
