Thomas is a massive hole knocking it down a notch for me. Jones, yeah.

The panthers game was also a blowout so I'm sure that played a part in the low snap count.

And we ran the ball much better and controlled TOP.

I feel like we're standing pat and like others have said, that might be a mistake. We need some reinforcements for this style of defense.

They must really like street for them to not bring anyone else in.

It's Time for Solly to really step up.

If we've shown one weakness in the DL, it's the run game inside when Jones' isn't in. We really do need a two-gap plugger or a 1T like Jones who's strong enough to hold the POA and explosive enough to play in the backfield and force fumbles.

It's scary to see Thomas, Day and now Street being put at such a key position. It puts so much stress on AA and Buckner and the smaller LB's to play down hill through traffic (not their strength).

And both the Hawks and Rams love running up inside --- our weakness.

Well Thomas has his now or never opportunity imo. I'd love to see what Street can do.

Since Buckner has been double teamed all year, IMHO, I'd just slide him over to 1T and let Thomas/Day tee off at 3T and utilize their quickness at the snap.

Putting Thomas and Day at 1T has been proven a big fail on tape. As it should. Those are players built on quickness and explosion, not power and anchoring.

Agree. We'd be better off utilizing our best 4 DL in every way we can. If that means playing Buck at 1T/2i part of the time, then so be it.
A lot has been said about our D giving up more yards on the ground than they did earlier in the year. I think part of it is because we are playing better teams in the 2nd half of the season. Ravens, Seahawks, and Saints all have strong running games so it shouldn't be a surprise that we are giving up more on the ground. You also have to factor in the runs by Murray, Jackson and Wilson.
I thought Solomon's strength was stopping the run? Has he been bad at that?

Only if they had drafted Gary I understand he is one hell of an anchorer!
Day is just bad. No way around it. Can't call this an elite group with him or Thomas in the mix. The elite line up was Ford-AA-Buck-Bosa with Blair and Jones being top reserves.

I mean not a lot of teams can't say they have Buck/AA/Bosa, that in it self is pretty impressive still. Depth is an issue for sure.

DJ was having a stud season BUT he was still mainly a 2 down NT. I think he had around 300 snaps this season. The glue that holds these DL together is still kicking

Ditto
Sounds like Nzeocha may even get some pass rushing snaps at DE with Ford out. Saleh mentioned that he was working with the group today.

To me, that tells me the team is not going to add another DL and is going to ride this out for one week hoping they can get by versus a "weaker" team. Maybe it's a positive sign that maybe they expect Taylor back next week?
