I see an ER already mocked to us.

Nearly every edge in this class is weighing in small, 240-255 range. Crazy to me. If you're gonna be 255 sub, you gotta play bigger or be like only 6-2 or so to have the right frame to take on big OTs.

The edge that was mocked was Darius Robinson

You said it. They can be shorter and lighter but must play significantly bigger.

Samson Ebukam was 6-2, 240, but he was pound-for-pound the strongest dude on the DL while he was here. He consistently stood tackles up in run defense and displaced them or put them on skates with his power rushes. I was a huge fan of Ebukam's entire athletic makeup. It's rare to find a guy with that type of strength, motor AND athleticism in a compact package.

Alright, since AA is out along with a few of our players hitting FA, what's the plan of attack here? Would you like to bring back Kinlaw, Givens, Ferrell? Bring DJ Jones if he gets cut. What about Leonard Williams if Seattle don't resign him?

DJ Jones, Ferrell, and I think there's a good chance our main signing this FA is an EDGE - whoever that may be.

Aside from that I can see us looking for more value in the DT spot, or maybe versatility similar to how we used Key as a guy who could slide in or out depending on the situation. Not sure who's out there in FA who fits that mould.
Sick of tacking defensive line every few years in the 1st round for this team. There are other positions.

Well they got a big hole to fill and realistically still need another real edge and some actual depth. Kinlaw, Davis and Givens aren't it.
The NFC knows they have to get through San Francisco, and they've highlighted the run defense as the primary weakness to attack. Every contender in the NFC is loading up on RB. Also, as thl mentioned, this is also reaction the defensive trends in the NFL.

I was talking with a buddy last year how the league is going to back to running more. Part of it is Shanahan, but the other reality is quality of qb play and o linemen coming out is just down. Also the new CBA doesn't develop o line like it used to etc so coaches are finally smarting up and realizing having a dominant running game is the best way to bring along a young qb and o line regarding the passing game while being competitive. Its nice to see tbh, because imo very few teams play very good football. Last year was us, ravens, maybe detroit, dallas, and Rams in spurts. Otherwise offensively its a very bland league at the moment.
Kocurek is going to have his hands full this year with all these new faces. I like that the 49ers have gotten bigger inside while adding way more pass rush. The only thing left is adding a real base nose, and this DL should be deeper than last year's group and better against the run.

Where did they get bigger?

Malliek Collins and Jordan Elliott. The 49ers needed to get bigger behind their starters.

Kevin Givens is 285 pounds, and Kinlaw had dropped to 292 pounds to alleviate the knee issues. I talked about it in his thread, but Kinlaw looked so damn skinny by the end of the year.

Ty sir. I know we're splitting hairs here. I just feel like an aa and jk are two of the biggest/strongest in the game
