Why are people in here crying like FA is over? There are still vets available. Clearly the front office isn't going to screw up their comp pick formula, so just have patience. Moves will be made if they don't cost us future picks.

It's over bro. We aren't signing or trading for any player of real value. Jed has closed his purse. Time to face the facts and move on to the draft.
I'm not even talking about a big name, a Maliek Collins type trade. Second tier DT or DE for maybe a 6th round pick.

We're fortunate to have this draft be so strong at our biggest weakness.
But what I'm really struggling with is bringing in ZERO veteran pieces along the defensive line while we put a ton of draft capital at the position.
There's no chance of landing 3 starters on the line in one draft. Can any reasonable people here try to explain the thought process not bringing in any veterans to help take the pressure off the rookies?
We probably just need 2 starters out of the draft. DE and DT/NT. Elliot can probably start ant 1 DT spot and maybe Even Anderson gets better.

There's a few on teh list I think 49ers can afford who can help out for a year or so. Charles Omenihu would be nice to get back. Embrace yourselves for grampy Calais. Lawson or Kendricks at LB. A fair mix of FA and draft picks would be a huge boost to our depleted roster

I agree but it just feels to me they are going draft 2 guys and roll with who they currently have.

Didn't Kawakami say we would be massive players for edge rushers? Aside from Trey Hendrickson who is old, expensive and would cost draft picks—all of which goes against the current agenda—who is available?

Elliot is fine. As a backup or base nose tackle. Yetur Gross Matos looked good when he played. I like him as a base end. I've always liked Kevin Givens as a penetrating 3T. Sam O played well as a rookie and should improve.
We have depth. Just need to draft an edge and a 3T.
Current:
DE- Yetur Gross Matos
NT- Jordan Elliot / Evan Anderson
3T- Kevin Givens / Khalia Davis
DE- Nick Bosa / Sam Okuayinonu
Add an edge and penetrating 3T in rounds 1 and 2 and a NT in round 4 and this DLine looks a whole lot better.

I'm one of the high ones on Yetur. Fans view of him is skewed because he was hurt a good chunk of the year but I think he's a legit starting base DE opposite Bosa if healthy. Sam O is solid depth. Adding a potential high end starter at 11 would be great.
Bigger problem is NT/3T. Elliot/Anderson/Givens/Davis are all decent depth. But we need two starters plus more depth.
There have been a number of interior d-lineman that have gotten 1 year deals that I don't understand why were not in on them. We desperately need some veteran help prior to the draft. At this rate picking an edge and 2 interior d-lineman with our 1st 3 picks is a must and that's not a great place to be to HAVE to pick a position.
With how thin we are a trade back from 11 makes a lot of sense but I worry a trade back makes us lose out on edge options. We can't even draft a OT if someone falls to 11 with how thin we are.
Then that's relying on later round picks to address T,G, C, WR, TE, LB

There's a very good possibility though that edge and DT are the BPA where we pick considering the depth of the DL prospects in this draft

Bosa is a stud. Sam O & Anderson have upside, and Givens is solid depth. The rest of these dudes are practice squad fringe roster dudes. Let's hope they follow your draft

STUD NT!!!
And, have to give a chance and get something out of Anderson, Both Davis, in the interior and Gross-Matos, D. Jackson, Beal on the edges.

Every single player in this unit outside of Nick Bosa can be upgraded. The 49ers don't have a starting nose or 3technique on the roster. That's crazy to process when they're running a 4 man front. Drake Jackson and Robert Beal should be cut; Kalia Davis should be cut; I would've never signed Jordan Elliott last year or resigned Kevin Givens this year.
Sam O and Evan Anderson are the only players that I think are quality players on the rotational lines, but their spots shouldn't be safe, either. John Lynch should be going into the draft with that mindset that there are 8 openings across the DL because in reality there are. YGM is whatever.

I thought when we released Floyd the reason was because we were going to sign Bosa. I thought forsure they had an agreement.
Then Bosa goes on to sign with Buffalo and we are left with Gross Matos and Sam O at DE.
My question is: Why not wait until we signed Bosa to release Floyd?
I've given this regime the benefit of the doubt but they have made some whoppers.
-The Trey Lance trade
-Drafting Solomon Thomas 3rd overall
-Trading Bucker and keeping Armstead then cutting Armstead a few year later. Relplacing Buckner with Javon Kinlaw. Signing Hargrave and then cutting him 2 years later.
-Cutting Floyd and Collins after a year.
-Extending aging guys like Deebo and Trent Williams. Then trading Deebo a year later.
-Caving to Aiyuk and giving him 30 mil
-All the missed draft picks with high picks in the 2nd and 3rd. Cameron Latu, Jake Moody, Tyron Davis Price, Drake Jackson, Danny Gray, Trey Sermon, Ambry Thomas, Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis. The list goes on and on.
Then add to the fact that Shanahan has blown two leads in Super Bowls. It makes me wonder how many Super Bowls we should have had under a different regime.
Those are some major whiffs. Trading for Lance and drafting Solomon Thomas are two of the biggest draft whiffs EVER of any team all by the same regime. It's not a good look.
