Whoever found Sam O deserves a lot of credit. He's a very solid player and exactly the type of end you'd want on the 2nd or 3rd rotating lines.
That said, if he's actually starting, the 49ers are in trouble.

Robert Beal needs to show something. I was high on him before last season, and he was a ghost all year. Literally anything would be an improvement. Sometimes these Georgia guys come on late, Philly fans gave up on Nolan Smith and he sort of arrived in the SB. Nakobe Dean too. This year is probably Beals last shot. If he can give us 5 sacks that would be cool.

I remember the knock on him coming out was being super raw and would take time. Don't have high hopes, but fingers crossed

We have a total lack of starters and depth across the board. Beal and Drake have shown next to nothing

I disagree with that. The players we have would be decent depth guys. Ideally we find 3 staters in the draft but in reality we will only get 1 or 2. If we can get a legit DE and DT starter in the draft the other guys we currently have can fill in the rest.

Maybe Kocurek needs to be locked out of the Draft War Room.

They definitely ask the position coaches who they want but once again everyone for the most part loves the Drake Jackson pick when it was made. Beal isn't anything special but he's a 5th round pick…we're just used to our 5th rounders being some of our best players but that's obviously not super realistic expectations.
Id say Kinlaw was the bigger miss by a guy coach K loved but that's due to injury. Clearly his talent just got him a pretty nice contract with Adam Peters…

I wasn't a fan of any of these picks, especially Kinlaw, but I respect that they took their shots and swung for the fences with Kinlaw. Everyone misses picks. That's not a point of contention for me. What is a real problem is that the lack of resources invested in the trenches in recent drafts. The 49ers have drafted a measly 3 DL in the last 4 drafts. For a team that claims to hang its hat on being strong in the trenches, that's a pathetic number of draft picks invested in the trenches. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the DL is in an awful state.
I keep reading about how the 49ers are using the Rams' quick rebuild as a template for their retooling of the roster. Well, the 49ers better start juicing those numbers because one of the reasons the Rams rebuilt their DL over night was because they drafted eight DL in the last 2 drafts. The 49ers have a ton of picks in a year with an all-time deep class at DL. If the 49ers don't come away with 4+ DL in this draft, I think fans have the right to start getting pissed.

Its a big mis conception around here that the Rams did it one off season

Only depth to speak of is Sam O.

They did though...
They won the SB, then went 5-12 the year after which I'm sure everyone can agree was a huge let down following a SB season(especially a winning SB)
Most people predicted they would be picking top 5 the next year after shaving off a bunch of their top guys and Aaron Donald having one foot out the retirement door.
They made the playoffs and everyone claimed they were the most dangerous team in the playoffs in the NFC.
Yes obviously hitting on Verse and Fiske last year in rounds 1/2 took their DL to the next level but that was also after Aaron Donald retired.
I agree with Hero's point - it would be a major mistake to not only ignore our needs but the depth and talent on the DL in this class to not double dip at minimum on both DT and DE. It's also why I'd like guys like Burch and Elijah Roberts who can play outside on base downs then move inside on passing downs basically giving us extra depth.
Last mock I did I had us coming away with Derrick Harmon, Jamaree Caldwell at DT then Bradyn Swinson, Femi Oladejo and Elijah Roberts at DE.
And I'd still expect us to try to bring in almost any undrafted DL available.

I'm tired of drafting guys with crazy measurable skills but little production. We need to draft someone that has actually produced at a big time program. I'm starting to value that over how high some guy can jump but only posted 4.5 sacks.

All valid point but you can't just skip over their 2023 draft. They netted 4 starters including there best d lineman in Kobie Turner. Byron Young is there best pass rusher and he was in this draft. Not to mention Puka and they drafted 2 o lineman that are currently starting. Then they built on that with Verse and Fiske in 2024. Agree with the bolded. I'd be happy with your mock.
