Trust me, I am the Nick Bosa guy on this board. As a realist, I knew in my gut the season was over when he went down. Still, I revert back to the hopeful and naive fan before every Sunday only to be let down.
f**k 2020
Exactly.
I have no expectations. This is a 7-9 to 9-7 team. It is what it is. With that said, I'm torn. I'm looking at OL, edge, and QB as our top needs. Perhaps we don't absolutely have to draft a QB in the first. Jimmy, while possibly not the franchise is still very good when healthy, and certainly can look good for a season while we have a rookie sit the bench next year, which bumps edge and O-line to the top of the list. Corner isn't far behind.
How sad it is that the 49ers had a historically good DL in 2019, and just like that, it's gone. I don't want to say never, but it's extremely unlikely they'll ever come close to replicating how good they were in 2019.

Sad. I miss the big uce 99.
I think the best 49er D Line was the '84 line personally.
If ShanaLynch continues to invest in the DLine, I don't see its power diminishing any times soon.

Its powers have already diminished by a significant margin. They had 18 fewer sacks in 2020. That's a massive drop from 2019. To make matters worse, this isn't a good pass rusher draft class.
Best part of the clip was watching how many tfl's he made. Can't even count the times where he put the opposing teams in a 3rd and longs b/c of those plays

Might have something to do with missing that Bosa guy.

and that guy that used to wear 99.
Kinlaw is going to replace him this season, just watch
Bosa 100% healthy, Kinlaw in his 2nd year, Hyder, and rookie edge rusher should do the trick to increase the sack numbers in 2021.
Bosa-Jones(maybe)-Kinlaw-Hyder, AA, rookie (Ojulari), Jordan Willis, Blair (maybe) could give 2019 a challenge. They definitely will be better against the run. May need until 2022 to challenge them as a pass rush unit.
Let's not forget we started the last yr off with basically 4 starters and 4 rotational guys , 2 hot shot DEs, and plenty of strength up the gut. We all know the losses but how many remember a game 3/4 of way thru season when we had 2 rotational DTs playing and the rest were from the PS, walmart parking lot or someone else's cuts.
Really, that is how bad it got. Besides you cannot lose a Bosa and have any semblance of the previous SB yr. plus Dee was in what ...a couple parts of games all yr? As it turned out we finished the yr by limping across the line. A lot of DTs that never would have seen the gridiron got to play.
That is NOT where we start from this yr. We are basically back to 4 starters, (only one true DE, Nick), and 4,5 or 6 rotational guys. Kin got an education last yr and the strength of the guy alone is cause for celebration. Last yr he looked lost at times, kind of like Arik before he "got it" . That's what i see in Kin this yr but am anxious to see who we get in draft, edge-wise.
We have a huge edge in seeing guys on PS or not even on the team who have actual playing time in the bigs. There is no way that is not going to help us this yr making up our DL.
No guesses yet re: DL until we see what FA and draft do for us. A trade? Nah. But draft will be fascinating in that we need CB, S,, C , OG, both starters and an OL to put into training. So DL will get its guy but there will be serious discussion before the first two days are over. But we do have the stats and film on those guys from nowhere who got a shot at the big time....and who knows, we may just have one or two from there that work out.
