I know this is a controversial topic given how popular the team's current starting fullback is but is it really needed in this system not to mention that it hasn't really been used this preseason???

I told you all before, the signing of the Juke was a JOKE, and wasted some money on him.. FB, we can find them everywhere.. we had RED under HarBaalke and he was pretty good.. until he became a wife beater!!

name a fullback that is an all pro blocker who can catch and understand Kyles' playbook? The need for a fullback is essential in opening running lanes and keeping the QB safe in the pocket to the best of his abilities.
there aren't many , if any, that can do what Juice does. FOH.

you mean, WHAT fullback in the NFL or late rounders that CAN'T be an all pro blocker who can catch and understand our offense..
FB is the easiest position in football.. and no one OVERPAYS them..

You need a FB to shift around for the zone runs.

Some offenses "take what the defense gives them" Kyle has some Bill Walsh in his mentality, and that is, "make the defense give you what you want"
Walshes scripted plays were designed to check his assumptions
Sort of, if I show this look, what defense will I see
With a fullback and tight end on the field you can keep a defense in their base alignment
Keep them in a run defense look
The presence of the fullback allows Kyle to make the defense give him what he wants
With a fullback, running back and tight end that are all pass catching threats, we show run, from what is basically a five receiver set

Problem is the guy is rarely used as a receiver and PP has gotten worse since he joined the team.
I was expecting Rathman production.

I thought one of the existing rb's was playing rather fb type football against Denver. Cant remember who, may well have been Wilds or Wilson. Both reasonable size.
But, much as I love the position, time has passed it by. How many pure fullbacks currently playing in the NFL?
