It's hard for me to understand how this is a thread in terms of Kyle's offense. If fullbacks were a dime a dozen then there would be a KJ on every team, but they aren't. He is basically a WR out of the backfield who has the size and power to lead block. People seem to think "just plug a back up TE in there" as if it will be the same, it wont.

Lead blocking is not the same as blocking on the end of a line. They need to see holes like a RB and hit them fast or else the play gets blown up from the lead blocker thinking too much and the RB waiting on the block to decide which direction to cut. It's also why when FB's were more popular allot of them were converted LB's used to seeing and attacking holes at the LOS. But LB's dont catch like WR's, which Juice does. The versatility that he adds is what Kyle's offense is all about.

I think you can find those athletes, if you look hard for them. Bruce Miller, Tom Rathman, Roger Craig weren't known as pass catchers when they played fullback in college. In Miller's case, he wasn't even on offense. Having said that, that's the key - Versatility. When you have a position player that can do two or more things, it makes you very valuable. I mean Joe Staley was a former tight end and probably could still catch some passes. Kyle's offense really makes the TE shine because of the outside zone run and QB bootlegs to the TE and RB/Fullbacks. It's a bread and butter play for this offense like the Greenbay Sweep was for Vince Lombardi.

I see the guy as a wasted signing because I believe that you can find good FBs anywhere, and anytime.. if you think he's THE BEST FB EVER, heck, that your opinion...

do you think giving Aweak Armhurts and Jimmy Kaiser Permanet Ward another contract was a good move?

do you do you do you or don't you??

Dont keep sidetracking threads. This is not about Armstead or Ward.

Armstead did very well on the edge as a power rusher with his height and Leverage
The FB is the lead blocker, Juice is really good at this. He can be moved to TE or WR on any given play. Kyle is all about being unpredictable. FB is very important for Kyle. I'll take Shanahan's scheme over McVay's every day of the week.
I forgot which NFL LB coach it was, but a while back I heard one say his young LBs don't know how to defend against a fullback because they never see it in high school or college. It's a pretty big advantage if used properly, and I think we can all agree nobody uses a FB better than Kyle.

Agree. Kyle's fullback is more of an H-back than a TE though.
Love having Juice.

He played wide receiver in college and converted to tight end then fullback due to height

He has serious pass catching ability.

Put him in with little. Other teams have to keep linebackers on the field, otherwise we have the size advantage for running the ball. They stick in nickel,

Then when he motions out wide out of the backfield, a linebacker is going to follow him in man most likely, which is a mismatch athletically in most situations. The only downside is since he isn't super tall, he doesn't have the high ball game. Probably why we dont see him at tight end

There's nothing to compare, Bruce Miller was a converted EDGE rusher to FB out of UCF in 2011, where Juice is a FB at Harvard, who can do everything that a normal back can do, plus play WR, and TE. Where Miller was never that great as a pass catcher, his tenure as a TE didn't last long, due to 1. his off the field issues, and 2. he sucked as a TE, remember when Chip tried converting him to TE cause his offense doesn't use a FB?
After rethinking it I think it's best to always have a FB.

Just keep in mind guys the team doesn't have an elite Quarterback so the offense has to lean off the run game.

Now how valuable Juice is and if another TE can shift to his position every now and again and do what he does is another matter
