People are forgetting that we won 4 games last year. It wasn't all because of injuries. This roster is still a work in progress with an unproven and thin O line and a defensive backfield still trying to find the right combination. That's 2 very important parts of a football team. They made significant upgrades to the defense (hopefully) with Ford, Bosa and Alexander. They added 2 new receivers. This is the type of team that should really improve in the second half of the season but the schedule gets tougher then. I see 8-8 or 9-7. That's a big jump from last year and I would be happy if it turns out that way. To finish 11-5 or 12-4 we would need every break to fall our way and we would go into the off season thinking we are better than we really are. I've seen that happen many times, most recently with Jacksonville.
Which one?

The three guys you noted will make a huge difference, particularly Alexander. His speed and coverage ability has been much needed.

Either 8-8 or 9-7 are realistic. So is 7-9. You can't predict game changing penalties, bad calls, turnovers and blown coverages. Those are the variables that happen every week and the reason predictions are so hard. I agree that the 3 players should make a huge difference but it may take awhile for the defense to jell as a unit. And there will be injuries. We just have to hope that there won't be as many as last year.

And hopefully lynch and shanny are kicked to the curb.

who do you want to replace them with?

Hopefully someone that knows how to build a team.

I've think they have done a pretty good job. Each year they do better and better.

Actually they have gotten worse.

You need a better rebuild plan than this. Shanny and Lynch have a 7 years rebuilt plan. Other teams can go from bottom to the Super Bowl in 2 - 3 years. But not us. Not the 49ers under current management.

like who?

He don't know any actual names.....he'd have to see who didn't sign with the Niners and then that guys would be "who should build" the team. Same s**t every single year, rinse and repeat.

I'm gonna call b******t on the 7 years since they had 6 year deals and no one has been extended yet. Sounds good to say though, right?

I'm going to split the difference and put you down for 8-8. You can change later if you want.

Their rebuilt plan has nothing to do with the length of their contracts. Don't expect to be good soon with this management.

You're convinced it's a 7 year plan after a total roster rebuild done with only 2 seasons played? Wow you're prescient.

Just for the sake of accountability, how many teams have gone from the bottom to the Super Bowl in 3 years or less? Bottom being 2 wins or less.

Just off the top of my head the Carolina Panthers went from 1 - 15 to the Super Bowl. That was 2001 - 2003. 2 years time total.

I'm an optimist so I will go 9-7 assuming all of our key players stay relatively healthy

So, one team.

Even if there was another team, that would still make the odds greatly in favor of it taking more than 2-3 years to build a team capable of going deep into the playoffs.
I'm at 6-10. Injuries will accumulate. Lynch's mistakes will catch up to him. Saleh will fail like the last two years.

I think the eagles did it too.

Nevermind. They were last in division but win 7 the year prior.
