People are forgetting that we won 4 games last year. It wasn't all because of injuries. This roster is still a work in progress with an unproven and thin O line and a defensive backfield still trying to find the right combination. That's 2 very important parts of a football team. They made significant upgrades to the defense (hopefully) with Ford, Bosa and Alexander. They added 2 new receivers. This is the type of team that should really improve in the second half of the season but the schedule gets tougher then. I see 8-8 or 9-7. That's a big jump from last year and I would be happy if it turns out that way. To finish 11-5 or 12-4 we would need every break to fall our way and we would go into the off season thinking we are better than we really are. I've seen that happen many times, most recently with Jacksonville.
The three guys you noted will make a huge difference, particularly Alexander. His speed and coverage ability has been much needed.
Either 8-8 or 9-7 are realistic. So is 7-9. You can't predict game changing penalties, bad calls, turnovers and blown coverages. Those are the variables that happen every week and the reason predictions are so hard. I agree that the 3 players should make a huge difference but it may take awhile for the defense to jell as a unit. And there will be injuries. We just have to hope that there won't be as many as last year.
