Good video on the run defense. Teams will look to exploit those large bubble gaps in the wide9 and one way to screw up the blocking assignments is to slant and scrape like you showed. Bucs TEs simply could not handle the 49er DEs. Whether it was run blocking or pass blocking. Or is OJ Howard just a poor blocker? He looked like Jimmy Graham out there "blocking".

I'll work on that. Problem was is that I have a meeting at 1:15 PST and I was trying to at least get 2 videos published before that meeting

Defense carried the day......Pass Rush is the sexiest thing in football outside of a legit Franchise QB.

Here's the best thing to say about Jimmy....even being noticeably erratic on some throws he still completed 18/27....that's 66.7%. We've seen really only one s**tty statistical game (Minny game last year).

Threw some handful of pass that were behind his receivers. I think it was rust, catching up to the speed of the game.

The play that got negated by the McGlinch lineup issue was my favorite jimmy play of the game....Blitzer right on top of him and he got it out really quick. Personally, I think the McGlinch penalty and the Juice OPI could have been no calls and without those you are looking at a 20/29 3 td game.

The most underrated play by Jimmy hardly anyone talked about, was when he took off running, newly repaired ACL and all for the 1st. Kyle and Lynch holding their breath, eyes wide I'm sure
.be

Next handful of plays, just in time before my meeting cause the person I'm meeting with is running a few minutes late :)
Nice new shiny intro graphics
I have a question about how you can tell what defense they're in when usually all they show is the line of scrimmage at the snap. Do you have access to other film? Occasionally they show a wide view that shows the whole field but that's not the norm. The camera tends to focus on the ball and we can't usually see what king of pre snap adjustments are being made. Just curious.

You can get coaches film with GamePass. Shows the entire field.

Think I can answer that since JD might be in a meeting. What he's showing is from nfl.com, on game rewind that can be purchased for like $100, there's "coaches film" that you can watch for the games. You can see the game from different angles. It's cool, I love it, I purchase game rewind every year and can watch all 49er games/coaches film as much as you want

One of the best things NFL has done. Also great is the condensed version of the games. If you want to check out the other games but you don't want to sit through the junk...just put that on. You can get through a single game pretty quickly.

Yes!!! A forum member here, who shall remain nameless unless he wants to present himself so I don't out him, was super gracious enough to make that for me.

Bucs were using lots of bear fronts vs the 49ers. While it may seem counter intuitive to place three DLmen inside of the OTs to defend a team known for outside zone, it does have its advantages to doing this. The objective of a bear front vs outside zone is to keep the LBs clean from interior OLmen moving to the second level. Then the clean LBs can diagnose and flow to the RB. The 49ers opened up by running directly into the teeth of the bear front. Here's the first 49er offensive play from scrimmage.

I think this is an RPO (run-pass option). The read here is the blue WILL linebacker. If he runs with Juice to the flat, hand it off. If the WILL plays the handoff, then throw it to Juice.

WILL runs with Juice. Hand it off on an inside zone run.

Not much space to run.

First play of the game, there was no way the 49ers knew Bucs would come out in a bear front. So this play in understandable. Let's see if the 49ers adjust.

If anyone is unfamiliar with the terms used, refer to the 'Coverages and Concepts' thread that is pinned at the top of NinerTalk. It's a cheat sheet of the language used in this and other film threads.

That play would've went for a big gain if MM maintained his block on the LB. Good play design, bad execution by MM
