didnt you guys see jimmy get his ankle rolled up on or something? at 1 point late in the game he was limping on it but played through it.

21 personnel. Outside zone right. ARI is in their base personnel but are showing a four man front, different from a typical 3-4 five man front. Juice mentioned something about seeing fronts they never saw on film from ARI. This might be one of them.

Person pushed 2 yards into the backfield. Dwelley can't get any push outwards on the edge force defender. Dwelley loses on the block and the play is blown up.

lol McG. +2

Another great opportunity for a bootleg. Teams are crashing down at full speed.

We usually run that Boot action slide multiple times a game. I just don't know how eager they are to be running Jimmy on Naked bootlegs. With the boot action slide, at least that slide from the TE/FB can act as a lead blocker if the route isn't open.

I feel like we've been running it A LOT less this yr. maybe you're right with Jimmy's leg still recovering they don't really want to get him running around.

I'm just curious, I've been trying to do some stuff on twitter but have found the fruit to not be there too much. What's the big value for me in doing this? Not meaning this in a mean way, truly curious. I've posted videos before and I get barely any traffic off of it. Like, less than 50 views.

I'm following you BUT you need people to start retweeting it. With twitter you have to be constantly posting stuff to build up followers and traffic

I'm hoping to cover some defensive adjustments tomorrow after I finish the offensive stuff.

I want to show the difference in how we contained Drake from week 9 to week 11 and how we held Murray to under 5 YPA
Lots of pass interference yards?
Wasn't as impressed with Murray in this game as the TNF game. Lots of quick game, screens, rollouts. Easy to spook him in the pocket.

Here are a couple plays to set up what I thought was Jimmy's best throw of the game.
ARI played lots of man in the first half, but here's an instance where they played zone. I think once Kyle saw a pattern to how ARI was using their curl/flat defenders, he used it to exploit their defense later in the game. I'm sure this happens often throughout a game for Kyle, but rarely do I notice it.
1Q 3rd & 5
ARI in a pattern match Cover3. ARI will ask their curl/flat defenders to match the #2 WR. Cover 3 is vulnerable to 4 Verticals concept. One way to combat that is to have the curl/flat defenders match any vertical route from the #2 WR so that the three deep defenders are not out numbered by the 4 Verticals. On this play, there's also a 'mable' (man coverage) call on the backside WR.
Spot concept to Jimmy's right. This concept can beat multiple coverages, Cover3 being one of them.

Jimmy sees presnap pressure look from ARI and will look backside to Bourne's slant. ARI actually backs off to play Cover 3 - no blitz. Notice the red curl/flat defender match the vertical route from Celek (the #2 WR). On the other side of the field, the #2 is also matched by the curl/flat defender.

Jimmy stays with Bourne. Had Jimmy looked to the Spot concept, he'd see that Sanders was able to find open space to the flat since the curl/flat defender has vacated his zone to match Celek.

Incomplete. The takeaway is how ARI is using their curl/flat defender in Cover 3.

This is on the second drive of the 3Q.
ARI is in Fire Zone blitz (3 deep, 3 under, 5 rushers). There is still a curl/flat defender in Fire Zone blitz and he will have the same assignment as in Cover 3 - match the #2 WR. 49ers dial up Switch Verticals which works against 3 deep coverages, but not if the curl/flat defender is matching the #2.

Juice is the #2. Red is the curl/flat defender.

Red matches Juice's vertical and that defends Switch Verticals.

The coverage was tight so the route concept was "defended". Pass interference called. Again, the takeaway here is that the curl/flat defender is matching the #2. By now, Kyle surely notices this.
Ugh, if the OL didn't get whooped so bad, he at least had the option in the flat.

Later on the same drive. 3Q 2nd & 18.
ARI in Cover 3 and this play seems dialed up specifically to beat this coverage. Here, the #2 (Dwelley) will run a quick curl.

Red curl/flat (c/f) defender matches Dwelley. On the other side of the field, the #2 (Deebo) also has his route matched by the curl/flat defender on the other side of the field.

Dwelley's short curl route attracts the red curl/flat defender, this in purposely done. Dwelley has no intention of getting open, only to occupy the c/f defender on his side of the field. Jimmy mid throwing motion, throwing through the passing lane between the c/f defender defending Dwelley and the Hook defender.

Jimmy has to lead Deebo to beat man coveage, while threading it through the passing lane between two underneath defenders.

+13. So to get the ball to Deebo, Jimmy has to lead the throw to beat man coverage. But since there is a Hook defender and a curl/flat defender on on the other side of the field, he has to use the passing lane between those two zone defenders. This was a gorgeous throw and shows the trust Jimmy has in the play design. He knew Deebo was the WR to target the whole way.

Yeah, I think each of the first 3 scoring drives they had all had DPI that extended the drive.

I could see you were up really really late last night posting on this thread just trying to get the one up on Jonnydel.

Nothing beats such fierce competition so the rest of us WZ posters get the best play analysis. Love your effort guys!

On all of Jimmy's picks, from what I could see, he was rushed every time. I guess this is encouraging because it means he's not throwing the more WTF interceptions. What did you guys see in terms of the film. Jimmy definitely threw before he was ready.

Thoughts/observations?

Agree. For a guy that's played only about a season in Kyle's offense, He's picking it up fast (well, a lot faster than Matty Ice). That gives me confidence these next 5+ games that he'll get better and I have hope that the WR's get better too, even pettis.

Gotta give kudos again to JD and THL.

I look forward to these weekly threads almost as much as the game itself. Incredible work guys.

I'd say what you said is true on the second INT where a rushed throw resulted in an inaccurate throw, he threw it behind Dwelley, tipped, INT. From watching Jimmy the past couple years, it seems like his default reaction to seeing pressure in his face is to quickly get rid of the ball. That's a double edged sword that will (mostly) result in a really good gain to beat the blitz (see the JWilson TD), or an inaccurate rushed throw (see Dwelley tipped INT).
