I say "just about" because there are some that are not quite like the rest. WRs fall into that category. All five are in the lower average range. Bourne is the highest rated at 65. Of course, with the exception of Goodwin, all share the same common denominator - young and inexperienced. More reps should help that but it is what it is right now. duh
Linebacker ratings took a hit in this last game, primarily due to missed tackles and assignments in the first drive. After that possession, the front four took over and the LBs had fewer chances to offsets those early mistakes.
The interior OL was not good against the Rams. This was Tomlinson's worst game of the season. True, they faced outstanding competition but they will have to deal with that in the playoffs. Person struggled at times as did Richburg. Surprising considering the two kids on the outside played so well. I thought it would be the other way around with the kids struggling as the Rams focused on them instead of the middle. Wade Phillips getting old and forgetful?
On the positive side, Jimmy continues to play solid overall. His overall rating of 71 puts him in the #15 slot PFF and #13 QB rating at NFL.com.
Mostert (#16) and Brieda (#6) continue awesome play. I hate referring to them as UDFA, even though they are. So far, they are the best RB twosome in the league. Period.
Much has already been said in his thread but Brunskill was the best OL in the game. While it is fair to say part of it was scheme, the fact is, his 76 rating for that game was quality football.
The front four need a good nickname. just saying... They are amazing.
Ford 91 - Elite
Armstead - 90 Elite
Bosa - 84 - high quality. Influencing nearly every play but not getting the numbers
Blair - 84 -
Thomas - 64 - After a poor first game, he has been steadily moving up. Take away that first game and he is well "above average."
When a front four is doing their job a secondary is looking good...and they are. All four CBs are in the mid-to-upper 70s. All in the top 20 in the league! Though it has only been two games, Ward rates at 83, 7th best safety in the league. Tartt continues solid play.
Coaching also deserves a great deal of credit. The work that Woods and Kocurek have done with the secondary and DL respectively, is obvious on the field. Props to them. Also, major props to Cool Hand Kyle and Saleh for getting things straightened out after that first LA drive. Reading the reports of Kyle telling Saleh to "be patient and get it fixed" reminded me of something Bill Walsh talked about in one of his books. Walsh said that a critical attribute of a HC in a game was to be calm when things started to go haywire. Kyle has been listening.
I know this thread does not get a lot of comments, and that is OK. It is largely just raw data, however, being able to look at the numbers, along with the eye test, gives a lot better understanding of what is going on down on the field. One can never have too much information.
So .
