Faithful forgot why those Harbaugh years were successful. Iupati and Davis molded the OL into legit playoff line. Most importantly, Justin Smith should have been D player of year while Aldon finally arrived. Like every playoff team, you need the leagues best OL & DL to be successful. Obviously, with Staley out our OL will be tested but the DL is the deepest and best I've seen since last playoff run.
For the non believers . Does it help to know that last year we were 4-4 at home and 0-8 away?

So far we're 2-0 away. Far ahead of last year already in that aspect. This team clearly plays much better at home and we haven't even seen the year 3 Shanahan niners do it yet.

not gonna lie, he kinda has a point. the rest of the NFC west look like so shaky and off despite Hawks and Rams being 2-0.. Saints could be interesting, then we have Pitt. I would not be surprised if we swept our division, honestly.

This makes no sense. 3 teams are 2-0 and the Cards have been competitive in both of their loses. And 2 of the 3 2-0 teams have super bowl experience.
I thought prior to the season that given our HC, our FQB, our defense, and relatively good health the 49ers can do good things.

I thought they would have struggles at times, and they likely will (especially with Joe Staley out), but that ultimately they would be rolling by the time the playoffs come around.

Regardless of their seed in the playoffs the 49ers will be dangerous and no team will want to play them.

have you seen the hawks and rams? Goff and his accuracy do look shaky offensively, along with receivers dropping balls left and right. the seahawks are squeaking out wins anywhere from a 1-4 point difference.

We need the pics as proof, if the niners have a better record does that mean he paints his nails red n gold?
We might go 12-4 with NO and Pittsburg now looking like winnable games. What would concern me is we might fall into a false sense of how good we are like Jacksonville did a couple years ago because they had an easy schedule. We are not a 12-4 team yet. 8-9 or 9-7 but not 12-4.

Brees will probably be back when we play

And we looked shaky against the Bucs.. but might still be the best team in the division.

Cards, while winless, looked like they had a legit shot in both games and appear capable of beating good teams.

My take is that the NFC west is one of the most competitive divisions this year. Every team looks pretty good, but also shows weaknesses.

I think it's possible both wild cards come from the nfc west, and all the division games (for all teams) are scrappy street fights.

Before the Staley injury, I thought 10-6 was possible, but without Staley it's hard to see how we get to more than 8 wins. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if we fail to win a game while he's out. Next to Jimmy, he was arguably our most critical player. The Steelers game is our best chance for a win within in the next 5-6 games and I don't feel super confident about it.

8-8 would still be pretty good though considering our recent history. No shame in that.
For the record, I said 8-8 during the preseason.

Now, I think 10-6 is very doable based on what these eyes have seen the first two games and injuries galore happening around the league.

4-2 Div
3-1 AFC North
2-2 NFC South
1-1 Skins/Packers

This team has already proved how to win on the road and it's very fun to see. These guys play for each other the rest of the way, sky is the limit (pending health).

and then we looked flawless the following week offensively. Goff and the Rams have looked like this consistently now, is my point.

Cards might be our toughest NFC West opponent in an ironic twist.

Yes.
I don't blame folks for being cautiously optimistic. Sure the other teams in our division is 2-0 but my take is that they don't look as dominating as the Niners.

One thing is for certain, NFC West is looking strong this year.
