It was even a better celebration than any other playoff win under harbaugh, even the falcon game to go to the super bowl.
It was so special it's up there with Dallas '94, Green Bay '98...
Agreed.

It hit me why this game is so special to a lot of 49er fans.
For many of us, we either weren't around for '81, or maybe we were alive but too young to watch (here here), and missed how special that season is. Only through 2011 can some of us begin to understand what '81 was like (that and the America's Game on it too). My 49er fandom essentially started after Montana won his 2nd super bowl, so I enjoyed about 13-15 years of a dominant team. I was what many people accuse Patriots fans now of being....having never seen pre-Brady...
For those of you who were there for '81, I imagine nothing will ever be as good as that. For the rest of us, 2011 was going to be our symbolic '81 and it just didn't happen.
I'll tell you what......if you could give me a ring for 2011, I'd have been perfectly fine for the Tomsula era having started the year after, LMAO. While I did enjoy the rest of the Harbaugh era and the Kap era, I'll take that one ring on a much underrated team, a true 49er team with Alex getting full redemption than what played out (despite that being very good).
The only good news is that we have another chance with Kyle and Jimmy. Not sure if this year is it, but I wager it's coming. I never imagined the disrespect could come so fast, but it did for our team. We never got that nice extended grace period other teams would get (like say the Ravens who sucked quite a bit after their last super bowl).
Enough time has passed from Harbaugh's last game that the 49ers have returned squarely to their Nolanterry perception. Would be epic if we can get it done this year.

Great post, man. I totally get it. I was only 7 in 1981, but old enough to fall in love with the team. The nostalgia during the 2011 season was real. Such an underdog team, playing together as one. It was a beautiful thing.
