There's been a lot of teams that were horrible for a long time, sometimes even longer than the 4/5 years we've been in this rut. And the media turns them into a feel good story. Lions in 2011 when they started 5-0 before we beat them , Raiders in 2016 before Carr broke his leg.

This.

I don't care where NFL or other media people put us. I care about what happens when our games end and hopefully we have more points on the board than the other team.

Only rankings I care about are the ones that come out of after the SB since the winner is usually always #1.

we'll find out come week 6.

We will do so on sunday night football, strong chance we're getting flexed per report. We'll show everyone on MNF we r dominant and prove that we ain't fakers on SNF. Shanahan has Hoyer go toe to toe with McVays squad last prime time. Shanahan has got the pieces now to make a statement.
I'm a Niner fan 100%, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Rams have easily one of, if not THE, most talented rosters in the league on both sides of the ball. They're 3-0, just appeared in the Superbowl, have a legendary Defensive Coordinator and one of the bets offensive minds in McVay. We are not there yet.

They are STACKED.

Now this could be due to where the Rams were last year or the fact the they won 2 conference games and the niners won 1. I don't know and maybe someone here does know.

I am biased but our points for are 96 against 54. There's is 77 for against 49

Niners differential is 42 and Rams is 28. In my world that puts us a hard fought but deserving top spot.

Okay okay I know its a pathetic fandom thing but man I always get the feeling the Niners get the raw end of the pineapple!

LOL NO! In fact, every fan thinks the media is biased against their team. Don't believe me? Check their message boards!

Win games, that's the only way you get respect.

We've sucked for like 5 straight years. It's going to take more than a 3-0 start for the media to slob us. It's really not a big deal.

IF we beat the Browns they'll raise their eyebrow. If we beat the Rams then you'll get all the attention you crave. it still wont mean s**t because 5-0 teams have missed the playoffs before.

The only thing that matters is that we keep winning not if the punk ass media pays attention or not.

I swear there was a thread exactly like this in 2011 lol
The only time I want the media all over us is right before the playoffs and telling everyone how we could be the underdog that no one wants to play. I want the team to feel disrespected at this point during the year. I want to see 2011 replay itself (except the NFCCG! )

Yup...it's not now, it's SB time. Then is when you want us #1. Anything nutty can happen between now and then. As far as love shown us in the media, see my post under the JImmyG thread and why 'we aren't really a significant team.'

As English posted in page before, the less recognition , the less notice for us, the better it is. We won't sneak up on anybody but we certainly don't want teams planning 3 and 4 games ahead, "The real team we have to beat is the 49ers in 3 weeks." We don't want to encourage stuff like that.

With 5 (F I V E) T.Os in the game, we should have lost that puppy pure and simple. Don't know the odds but Bill Parcells would take one look at the stats sheet and say, "Pitts murdered the 49ers"....he would have a tough time believing we actually won, Only thru the Magnificent Four did we snake that win. Dee, Nick, ARIK, and Buck just tore those guys a new rear end. Cripes they played non stop slamming, jamming , hitting, TFLs, sacks, QB hits, nailing the RB as he was handed the ball....collecting fumbles due to big hits....,i mean, anyone really count how many of those there were?

And a good part of that is PFF's #1 slot Dback in K'Waun. Also the other KWON, has been magnificent and actually is part of the Magnificent 4 or 5. Then add in Warner who is always on the ball, uncle Sherm who has locked down L side of field, plus inspired play from Spoon(now out unfotunately, so we'll see how Emmanuel Moseley does.

Everybody wanted to see the 9ers O come season. I went with D, because the talent looked so good....way too good to be believed. And there were injuries to consider. Basically GM John could have gotten healthy players without the talent of Kwon, and Nick ...and Dee....or he could have done as he did. I worry about worsening of injuries, but right now, JL picked up a bunch of winners, nicks and all.

No question, the D has carried this team well beyond what anyone thot. Then there is of course, the O. And it WILL get better. We were jacked up for the Pitts game like no game i recall in a long time. So jacked in fact, that guys made muffs , one after another . JImmyG got INTs , two of them , right off the bat, when balls bounced out of receivers hands. That is from being so jacked up they weren't concentrating. All those guys were better than that.

That all said, i would prefer to be near the bottom of the "favored" list of those teams who have won more games than the others. And just hope we stay that way as we keep winning.
Yes, it is. And you know what? That hate will make winning that much sweeter. The media is still suffering from PTSD from the 80's. They are calling us imposters and not for real. When we beat the Lambs all that talk will stop.

Kaepernick set us back 20 years with his protest stunt, JH alienated the refs...so there's animus against the team from those two things in the media that will have to be overcome by Kyle and Jimmy G wiping it from the collective short term memory of the national consciousness

Niners were media darlings up until the 2004 collapse of the dynasty, and were the premier team on the West coast (Seahawks were still nobody, raiders and chargers were 2nd fiddle, and the Rams were in St Louis)....now? Not the case
