And what's the problem with that?
Poor sus
Seriously. Must be draining being so negative all the time. Even if it is an act.
You really think they got a chance to win the superbowl?
Yes I do.
Same here, Sus. This from a guy who predicted 13-3 LAST yr. This yr i was more cautious. 9-7 if no major injuries,(and we had our usual 21 guys on IR, PUP, or whatever, but i fudged and Said if NO major injuries then a chance for 12-4)`. Officially tho, i was down at 9-7. Did i see a SB? No, not really but liked us to go deep into playoffs. Well we accomplished that.
Whereas i didn't see all the injuries last yr, this yr i missed our GM out there finding unknown depth at OL, DL, RB, WR, TE, LB and DB. We had an obvious QB patch with Mullie.
Little did i realize just how well JL had stocked this team with not just good depth, but starter depth. Talk about a guy deserving the E O Y award. Well, John did. It wasn't til both Joe and McG went down that lynch's Genius came thru. Then Richburg , gone for yr,...JL had a starter replacement on the bench...Skule, and Brunsklll got valuable time at starting OTs and worked out just fine. DL...we lose Blair and DJ Jones...and we got two guys JL immediately puts back on the squad and they are rotational starters, also. The large # of WRs seemed foolish. Then the injuries and they worked out just fine. Same at TE,....kittle goes down and Dwelley comes in and helps us win one. And on it goes.
Basically you cannot afford to have duplicate starters at every position. But you can have green talent and have coaches who can coach them up. Also with stop gap guys, it gives you a chance for your starters to mend and return.....to wit, Dee Ford, KWON Alexander, and tartt. Also i knew we were building the D, but Dee Ford, Kwon,Bosa, paired with Buck, Arik,..., until game 3 or 4 it was hard to see what JL and kyle had accomplished. A power house D, best in the league adn same for the front. 7. With Sherm, Tarrtt, Moseley, back there....we had an all pro D.
On O, JimmyG returns, healthy. We end up with 8-9 WR/TE/RBs in Brieda, Mostert, Coleman, Au jus, Kiittle, Dwelley, Bourne, Sanders, and Deebo....and an OL with doubles at both OTs, and a backup for Richburg, all of whom were rotational starters, not just "depth" . Throw in the best qB/HC combo in the game and you are talking serious Pooh here.. Thing is the writers all missed it, the media missed it and we fans missed it...most of us any way.
Only toward the very end could one look and see just WHY the 9ers kept winning even with all the injuries. Then Dee comes back, then KWON, then Tartt, turns out our "backup" center
can start, Au jus returns, both OTs return, RBs all get healthy, kittle comes back....it was just fantastical. Sure a lot just happened, but JL and Kyle dealt with the injury bug by accepting injuries were going to happen....to everyone. They somehow just had teachable depth all across the board.
That is something i have never seen...nor even thot of before. Yet it had been set up and it worked like a charm. Kyle and john both deserved to be COY and EOY. Whatever ,it got us this far and this is something never seen before. The league better take notice. 'This is how you keep injuries from ruining your season....and gets you to the SB
