No doubt about it. The current team is fragile. If is not Bosa then is Dee Ford (the situation with his knees seems to be chronic too), the RBs, WRs, the list just goes on.

The 2011 and 2012 team had a toughness about them. I feel like those were men whereas the current team are mostly boys. Think about it for a moment, Frank Gore, Justin Smith, Ray McDonald, Sopoaga, Patrick Willis, Bowman, oh and the infamous lumberjack safeties Hitner and Goldson. That was one hell of a bad ass hard hitting team alright!! It was a very different style of football, it was pure smash-mouth all the way.

As to which team is better? Well, the 2019 offense is obviously more efficient. The defense has some potential with the improvement of pass rush. But, this team is still very young and unproven plus probably lacks a little toughness as mentioned before. Is too early to tell, but should we get to the playoffs with say over 10 wins? Then, we can revisit this topic.

The real question is (and given everyone is 100% healthy), which team is Staley choosing to play for????

Shanahan and Jimmy G would pick them apart with short passes and play action. Whitner and Goldson hit hard but coverage burned them a lot, shanahan would exploit that big time
