yeah, I never foresaw so many getting triggered over the thought. I just found it fascinating and pondered about what it'd be like if these 2 teams faced off head to head in a game. that's all

with witherspoon in the lineup, 2019 easily has better DB's with him and sherman

Rogers, Whitner, Reid. The entire secondary was stacked in 11.

we didn't have Reid in 2011. we drafted him in 2013. we had goldson and whitner, who were liabilities in coverage. Rogers got absolutely torched in the slot, however he was our best corner for sure. Brock exploded in 2013 and turned out to be became pretty good.

Rogers has always been one of the better coverage corners in the league. His weakness was the dropsies. He ranked 13th in coverage stats in 2011 so getting torched in the slot seems to be off. But it looks like you're right that our secondary is better now. You could throw on us in 11 and hit big plays. Not sure if our receivers could though.

Get here first, don't allow a rushing touchdown until week 15 and then we can start comparing.

This team hasn't faced any perseverance.

I think Staley vs Staley would be a stalemate.

That would break the space time continuum.

I don't know about stacked. That secondary could hit but they were more of a byproduct of the front seven when it came to coverage. The front seven that year was one of the most ridiculous collections of talent that I've ever seen.

agreed, I dont think our secondary was great but they were ok. Dont get me started on culliver in the SB how pathetic he was

I'm curious to know how many of you watched the 2011 season Dashon "The Hawk" Goldson was the safety that year, Reid was still in college. Also that "stacked" secondary got exposed badly when Justin Smith tore his bicep in New England.

It was 8 years ago and the NE game was in 2012 because Kap was the qb.

that 2012 secondary was nearly identical to 2011.

he got torched by Victor Cruz in the NFCC game vs. the Giants out of the slot. in the playoffs. other than that you're right. he was one of the better coverage corners. just had awful hands. Witherspoon has been fantastic until he got hurt, and Sherm is sherm. I feel like our secondary in 2011 was rather undersized too. seemed like we had a better run-stopping back end than a true coverage unit like we have now. although we did have pattern-matching pinciples

OT's dont go up against OT's though. so itd be like, Staley vs. Aldon Smith, and then Staley vs Nick Bosa

Tom had a 68 rating that game btw. He put up some yards and points but that will happen when you're down 28 and have to throw the ball 65 times. Did the same to Seattle's secondary when they were goat level.

Willis was mediocre to kind of below average in pass-coverage, and Whitner was undersized and not that great in coverage either. However, our defense definitely tapered off towards the 2nd half of that 2012 season. Injuries we didn't know about at the time hindered Aldon and Justin smith. now, with Spoon and Sherman in I feel like our secondary is much more reliable and better equipped to handle a non existent pass rush, to an extent
