They overlooked the Steelers, played very sloppily to start that game (probably didn't think they'd have to try against a backup QB making his first start). Now we've got Breida on NFL Network talking about how we'll beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. That's not something I'd want our players saying ever, but especially not after just 5 games against a relatively soft schedule.

They're a young team, so it's not surprising that after their first taste of success they might get a little cocky, but it is something Shanahan is going to have to reign in. As Shanahan has said, this league will humble you pretty quickly.

Yeah that's not true. He was specifically asked how he felt the 9ers matched up against the Pats and he said "I feel like I like our chances". Wtf do you expect him to say? At least get your info straight.

I expect him to say the responsible thing and decline to comment on teams that we're not preparing to play this week. It's not hard. Why risk stirring up controversy by saying we would beat the Patriots?

Seriously what is your problem? This has to one of your dumbest statements yet.
The dude is a CLLLOOOOWWWNNN ignore his ass, he gets off talking nonsense on another teams board

Of course...found his/their pic

He didn't say that though, did he?

How else would you characterize it? How does talking about the Patriots at all help us beat Washington?
Who are the 27 people that voted Washington in the poll? Laughable!

This is kinda crap he brings. I smell troll everytime he post.

That interview wasn't the first time I heard a media guy mention 49ers and Patriots in a match up...the earliest was a couple weeks ago on the radio...even Cowherd mentioned it...it's as if they think about it --> #49ers #Patriots #SB54 #BookIt

It's silly for the team to be talking about things like this. It's October and we've won 5 games. The only record we're guaranteed is at least 5-11. It's way too premature to talk about hypothetical super bowl matchups, especially when we haven't even sniffed the playoffs in 5 years. Whatever happened to one game at a time?

I don't know why people in here get mad at you bruh, you're funny af

Btw let me clarify...the media is talking / insinuating and Breida answered a simple question, but SB was never a part of the Q.

Also, none of the players have been talking about playing any other team besides the next one up

No one is talking Super Bowl besides a couple of us in here...some might joke, but I think Niners send BB / Brady into retirement

#49ers #Patriots #SB54 #Bookit

He didn't say anything wrong. You are just twisting his comments to fit this negative Nancy narrative you have with the team.

I think Dan Patrick talked about that super bowl match up also. Said it would be a media dream come true game.

You're right. I hear him early in the morn over here... he's one of like 4 media heads I've heard mention something like that.

it would be a dream come true.... the results it would be a nightmare for all Pats fans

Surprised so many people think this is a trap game and the niners will overlook it. Not because of player mentality but coaches.
Washington fired Shanahan (and his dad)- you telling me you don't think KS hasn't had this game circled on his calendar for months? Expect him to bring the house.

1) He didn't talk about the Patriots until asked about it, and;

2) He never said that we would beat the Patriots. He made a short, thoroughly diplomatic, typical football answer.

You have invented this whole thing. You have done this before.

How did I invent it? Are you saying it didn't happen? Because it's on NFL.com if you'd like to watch it.

The fact is that this team needs to just stay focused on whatever the next game is and not think about their record or what the outside world is saying. You wouldn't see Patriots players giving interviews about how they matchup with us. We should emulate their approach and just focus on the task at hand.
