Is it cause those teams have a franchise qb and we don't ??

The injuries to key players are killing us but you make a good point about the QBs. The Saints, packers and Seattle have 3 of the best QBs in recent history. Baltimore is more a matter of solid coaching and a consistent good defense. That's the difference between a true franchise QB and one that's just good. Teams always have a chance when they have a franchise QB that can bail them out.

That said, things change rapidly in the NFL and next year the Niners could be right back on top. You never know how injuries are going to go and it might be one of the other teams in our division that gets decimated next year. Wilson has never missed a start. Maybe his time is coming.

Sometimes it's that simple. I agree with you.

When you bull rush any mobile quarterback with fundamentally sound footwork and pocket awareness, you're gonna get gashed. Warner needs to call a better game defensively. Agreed about the quarterback play it's been scary bad this year with the 49ers. Seems like teams league wide are airing it out more. Wouldn't surprise me if Lynch and Kyle hit the reset button this offseason and free up some cap space with cuts and draft a hybrid style quarterback. Kyle is limited to dink and dunk with Jimmy and Nick

we lost because of:

1) s**tty oline play against a top dline
2) untimely miscues by our noodle armed backup qb
3) some guy named dontay jonson

I don't know if he would be the answer, but I look at a guy like Jalen Hurts who is a backup now and I wonder how he would look in Kyle's system. He was pretty good at Alabama but got replaced by TUa. He came up big in some big games and he has good size and runs well. I wonder if Kyle could refine his passing enough. At least he would provide a running option.

So our window is closed because our backup had a game from hell despite a ton of opportunities to walk away with a win?

Cool story.

Our injury list makes it difficult to contend. Your point on a franchise QB is still being evaluated by fans. Some think Jimmy G is ok others on to the next. I think securing a solid right tackle and a healthy Bosa puts us back in the mix. Even without them the offense will light it up when our QB comes back. Finding a true franchise QB gives team a 10 year window. My view on Jimmy G is that he is competent but has injury concerns.

Going to need more than a healthy Bosa. We have a lot of FA's on the Defensive side of the ball. CB is going to be a huge hole for this team to fix. O-Line has still not been addressed for this team.
Yeah idk where I stand on Jimmy yet. With that injury and our Swiss cheese o-lone I would imagine his confidence is fkd. Still yet to see him be capable of a solid deep ball.

Smh. The QB is injured and it's that were limited by our QB....

Yeah, Jimmy did so bad when the defense was injured last year. He only averaged over 280 yards, 2.5 TD's and over a 105 rating during that stretch. But sure, the QB is holding us back
Too many injuries seasons done sadly but we got good bones something to build on
How many teams could lose this much and still be playoff contenders? The silver lining is a lot of players are getting some real experience that could pay future benefits. The playoffs now have 7 teams so I think the 49er can make the playoffs. Baltimore made the playoffs one time (2014), after the Super Bowl I'd rather forget, before Jackson arrived and they are 0-2 with him. Baltimore also isn't a very good come from behind team. I wish I could hate Mahomes. He may be the only person having a great year (hasn't lost a game, won the Super Bowl, SB MVP, got a crazy contract, got engaged, having a baby, is great at the game cornhole, and I'm sure some other stuff). The 2020 season would be so much easier to enjoy if the 49ers won Super Bowl.

Without a QB it's basically closed again right?
Insert door slamming gif lol.
window? last year was a peep hole
They should just retool for next season. Let every single unrestricted FA's go, minus K'wuan Williams and Juice. (bring back Jones for a "reasonable" price) And look for creative ways to fill in holes. All i know that this upcoming draft class should really focus on the secondary. Maybe let go of Kwon, Richburg, and MAYBE Ford. (although I don't know what are the cap implications on doing so) No more draft capital wasted on DL and WR's. And I wouldn't think about bringing in another QB unless the other facets of the team are fixed. (o line, D line, secondary, etc...)

Also, let Saleh go. I know continuity is king in the NFL, he needs elite talent to produce mediocre results.

If they tweak some things, they could be elite in about two years.

You wouldn't pick a QB even if we are top 5 in the draft next year?
