I think Solomon is gone. They will extend armstead.
Extending Buckner and Amstead will be too expensive. Solomon cheaper and Lynch's Draft pick and school mate.

Agree that he is nowhere as good as armstead but remember couple years ago many thought armstear was a bust. Som of these d-linemen need a few yes to develop.
Our destiny is in our hands, it's such a cliche opinion, but I've said it since week 2, our only enemy is our own mistakes. Our team is built to defeat the Patriots, Vegas knows it, and the media is just respecting Richard Sherman by saying the Saints and Packers are superior.

Just imagine after this year when Brady and Belichick are gone, the NFC will run this b***h again, and we're gonna be at the front of the swing.
6-0 spurns more enjoyable topics than 0-6 or 1-5.

Win now, sign Buckner.

I love how you open with cautious optimism and end with complete optimism lol

Same, that made me lol
Frankly our window will vary depending on the strength of the team. If it remains defense then our window is likely 2-3 years, at which point it will likely become cost prohibitive to resign everyone. It's impossible to continue pay 9 starters and solid bench players their true worth. If we continue to add good players in the draft to replace pricy FAs on D, that window could be extended. But no guarantees in the draft.

If the strength of our team transitions from the D to Jimmy - in other words he becomes a top 5 QB - our window gets extended to however long he plays.

Seattle is a perfect example. 2012-2014, Seattle's window was predicated on its D. But guys got older, more expensive, they didn't find great replacements in the draft and now the D is probably average to slightly above average. But fortunately for Seattle, Wilson has become a top level QB. So while the D has taken a step backwards they are sitting here at 5-2 and will be a playoff contender for as long as Wilson stays healthy.

What you don't want to do is mortgage your future to win now. If it is obvious Jimmy isn't a top 5 QB in 1-2 years (when our defense ceases to be the strength due to attrition) then the worst possible thing would be to have no draft capital to replace Jimmy. You don't know when that future first rounder you trade to "win now" becomes a top 3 pick because your perceived strength collapses due to age or injury and your QB can't carry you.

This is what the Rams are doing with their FA and trades. The strengths of their team - Gurley and DLine - are weakened and Goff is still a question mark. But they have no draft capital and are overspending in FA. If the Rams collapse this year because Gurley is done and the D regresses and it becomes apparent Goff can't carry them, the Rams have no immediate ability to replace Goff. It will hurt them for years.

Bottom line - the key to a decade of success remains a franchise QB. Teams like Seattle in 2013, Baltimore in 2000, Tampa Bay in 2002, can get a title with the D but their window was 2-3 years. The key is to avoid putting all your chips in to chase a title in such a short window because you may need those chips to find your QB down the road.

10 games left, most against teams with winning records. Could easily end up 9-7
Windows are always tough to gage because injuries can kill you. Really only NE shrugs them off like they're nothing and hits the conference finals every year no matter what.

We have a nice core that can compete for awhile though.

I'm not sold on Armstead. He's playing well, but I think he's more a product of the guys around him. As we've seen, anyone we plug is having success: Solomon, Taylor, and Blair.

I think some desperate team is going to drop big money on Arik only to find out they signed the Pre-Bosa/Ford Arik.
