Playing at home helps our cause. Panthers have the most sacks in the NFL right now, but our defense collectively is better. I can see Sherman picking off Allen, I'd like for Eman to snatch one. Mccafferey is a great talent but he hasn't met this defense yet. Carolina might load the box but Breida is the highest rated player in yards per attempt in all of the nfl when teams load the box, not to mention jimmy now has sanders to throw to.
The whole sacks thing is without context imo. For example they've had 75 more pass rush attempts then SF this yr (and played TB 2x & the Texans). You have to actually have attempts to get high sack numbers. SF is shutting down offenses with 3 in outs.
They bring pressure with a lot of blitzes, while SF brings a ton of pressure with just 4 guys. Allen gonna have issues with that and 7 guys in coverage.
How come that is not what Kyle has been saying? He says they mainly rush 4 just like us.
Even if it is true they blitz a lot, it could be moot if they get home. Bottom line is this, their magic number is "27", their total number of sacks to date, 7 more than the 9ers as good as our pass rush is.
I am not saying their D overall is better than the 9ers, but that isn't the point. If Jimmy G is getting sacked, then it becomes a problem.
The Panthers is a very physical team, I predict this could be a very tough game for the 9ers, could be even more so than the Rams. I don't believe we match up well with them at all. Sure, our D is stout, but our offense is far from that. We have a bunch of small backs and WRs. The only truly physical weapons we have are: 1) Kittle and 2) Juice (who is injured).
To add, I am pretty sure they will be drawing on Eric Reid's beef with the 9ers as a major motivation factor on top of the price of beating the only undefeated team in the NFC.
As some analysts have predicted, for all we know, this could turn out to be a defensive face-off and a very low scoring game. Either way, I wouldn't underestimate the Panthers.
Let's just hope we can handle business. Let's go 9ers!!
