Yes. But the issue is the cumulative toll of what would effectively be four playoff road games (including week 17) to get to the super bowl.

So what? I'd be fine with playing indoors against two beatable teams. If we were to drop 1 game between now and week 17, I would seriously consider sitting some starters going into week 17 if it means we have the #5 seed locked up. Why risk injuries, when it won't change your seeding? Anyway you slice it and dice it, we have to go to Seattle and win now (unless they drop a game of course) so I'd much rather play once for all the marbles instead of having to beat them twice.

Even if Seattle drops a game, we still gotta beat them. No reason we can't win out and take a week off.

From the #1 spot to currently #5 seed in the NFC playoff picture. Niners going to pick their poison either going to Lambeau Field in the snow or facing the Cowboys in Jerry Jones Land!
Rather the niners play the cowboys.

Niner fam would take over those stands again.

That sack wasn't his fault. It was a block in the back (uncalled... of course) and he just fell into Wilson.

When you spin backwards yes it's your fault. You should be looking to step up or at worst parallel. Spinning backwards is a terrible idea.

Agreed. It wasn't the best play by Wilson but he was counting on luck to bail him out. I was shocked it didn't.
There's 4 games left in the season, it will all come out in the wash.

One game at a time, next up NOLA

GO 49ERS!!
A YEAR of hard work and dedications went down to 5th spot after 2 stupid play calling...

If we can't beat Seattle at home and if we lose to them in Seattle, then we don't deserve it.
Seattle still has to go on the road against the Rams and the Pathers. Both teams are capable of winning. So I'm holding out hope that one of them will help us out and hand Seattle a loss.

Even still, I think we will win out. We have played well on the road this season. We are certainly capable of beating Seattle on the road.

If we lose to the Saints but win our last three, and Seattle wins every game except the last one against us, things get very interesting. Basically comes down to the Redskins/Packers records compared to the Eagles/Vikings. The latter is one game better right now but a lot can change (especially with the Redskins/Eagles and Packers/Vikings playing each other).

This could get interesting. After that the tiebreaker would be combined ranking in points scored/allowed in the NFC and I don't think a tiebreaker has ever come down to that before.

This is starting to remind me of the end of last season when we were trying to win the Nick Bosa sweepstakes lol

Indeed. It's the best way to head into the playoffs. No time for complacency.

Someone check me.

Here are the tie-breaker rules:
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more teams in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two teams
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the teams).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

So, clearly, if SF and Sea both win the next 3 games, the winner of our week 17 game wins the division.

But, if we lose to NO and they win the next 3 games, but we beat them week 17, do we win the division? (We would have both lost only to the Saints, Ravens, and each other).

We'd have the same records. So, onto the tie-breaker criteria:
1 - Same
2 - Same
3 - Same
4 - Same
5 - Same
6 - Same
7 - Probably us?

Am I missing anything?

Ok, Boner pointed out elsewhere, in criteria 5, it would be uncommon opponents that would decide it. I think he might be right.

"we'd need the packers/skins to end up stronger than the Vikings/eagles. I think."
...if that doesn't also tie. (currently 12 vs 13 wins)

Is that right?

All this worrying and still got 4 games left to be played. This stuff will sort itself out. And I'm 100% confident this team can go on the road and win multiple games in January
