Race for the nfc west and the #1 seed

Honestly, I would love the number 1 seed. But why should we be bothered? Is anyone stopping this team before the NFCCG? The 5 seed puts a team like Dallas/Philly and then a Green Bay/Minnesota/New Orleans in our path. Outside of being on the road, none of those teams want any part of this team, home or away. The 1 seed is great to give us a bye, rest some guys, not have to worry about the elements, etc, but that extra wildcard game isn't stopping us.

I'm mostly worried about playing away instead of at home. I don't mind getting an extra Niners game to watch.
we GUCCI as long as we make the playoffs.

You should try to aim for the #1 or #2 seed and a playoff bye. It's a big, big deal to rest your players and be more healthy. Plus the obvious you are already past one week because you don't even play. You really can't lose in a week you don't play and already advanced from.... It kind of makes your path easier to the Super Bowl. It's not to be under estimated. There is no more margin for error. They have to win out now. Maybe the can. Maybe they can't. But they have to try.

Agreed. I'm basically trying to get someone to look through the criteria to see if we can still win the division even if we lose to the Saints, and the Hawks win their next 3. I think so.
We clearly need to win week 17 vs Seattle to take the division and have the chance for a bye.

Personally I'd rather bet on the team thats 6 points away from being 12-0 than the one that is 6 points away from being 8-4.

That will be very, very tough. We usually don't do well there. But I guess anything is possible.

The Rams only lost in SEA by one point, 30-29. The Rams could beat them at home next week, which would be nice, but I think we're better than the Rams, and have a good shot.

Here are the tie-breaker rules:
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more teams in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two teams
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the teams).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

So, clearly, if SF and Sea both win the next 3 games, the winner of our week 17 game wins the division.

But, if we lose to NO and they win the next 3 games, but we beat them week 17, do we win the division? (We would have both lost only to the Saints, Ravens, and each other).

We'd have the same records. So, onto the tie-breaker criteria:
1 - Same
2 - Same
3 - Same
4 - Same
5 - Same
6 - Same
7 - Probably us?

Am I missing anything?

Forgot the Refs, Seattle, Patriots, etc. always seem to get a gifted call or something that helps them win a major game every year.

Doesn't it always seem like Seattle wins those close ones? That's why they are good.

we should have strength of schedule and points if we beat their ass lol
if we cant beat seattle in their house then we shouldnt be talking about superbowls. we almost beat them without kittle and most of the game without sanders and a ton of WR drops. we BEAT THEIR ASS week 17, demoralize them and take back our division. we will win out and i think they drop one along the way to the panthers or rams. whether we are 1st or a wildcard. nobody wants to see us in the playoffs, at home or away. the ravens know they got away with one yesterday as well. we area team that has demolished teams all year and lost our only two games by a combined 6 points.

In the complicated formula I read this morning, we really need to win this week against New Orleans. It would give a major boost to us in the tie breaker against the Seahawks should we beat them week 17 and both teams finish with the same records.

In the end the Seahawks' fans and team can rejoice for now if they want too but them leading the division as of now is merely a formality. It's the niners who control their own destiny. If the niners win out, they lock up the division and the number one seed.

and the hawks will drop one to us and probably to carolina or a desperate Los Angeles on the road. we just need to take care of our business and the rest will take care of itself

Control our own destiny???? With this schedule, in the NFC west, with fumbloppolo as qb?? and Shanny standing over there all tied up in his own playbook???It will be wherever we fall at 12-4. NE would win their division by 5 games at that record.
