Love it!!!!!

we should have strength of schedule and points if we beat their ass lol
In the complicated formula I read this morning, we really need to win this week against New Orleans. It would give a major boost to us in the tie breaker against the Seahawks should we beat them week 17 and both teams finish with the same records.

In the end the Seahawks' fans and team can rejoice for now if they want too but them leading the division as of now is merely a formality. It's the niners who control their own destiny. If the niners win out, they lock up the division and the number one seed.

Control our own destiny???? With this schedule, in the NFC west, with fumbloppolo as qb?? and Shanny standing over there all tied up in his own playbook???It will be wherever we fall at 12-4. NE would win their division by 5 games at that record.

Perhaps you are confused as to what the phrase "control our own destiny" means

You should try to aim for the #1 or #2 seed and a playoff bye. It's a big, big deal to rest your players and be more healthy. Plus the obvious you are already past one week because you don't even play. You really can't lose in a week you don't play and already advanced from.... It kind of makes your path easier to the Super Bowl. It's not to be under estimated. There is no more margin for error. They have to win out now. Maybe the can. Maybe they can't. But they have to try.

Agreed. I'm basically trying to get someone to look through the criteria to see if we can still win the division even if we lose to the Saints, and the Hawks win their next 3. I think so.
We clearly need to win week 17 vs Seattle to take the division and have the chance for a bye.

That will be very, very tough. We usually don't do well there. But I guess anything is possible.

The Rams only lost in SEA by one point, 30-29. The Rams could beat them at home next week, which would be nice, but I think we're better than the Rams, and have a good shot.

Good point. Rams also were rolling against AZ this weekend. Still a lot of football to be played!
#5 seed locked in no matter what. That's where it'll end up being IMHO. It's inevitable. 12-4+.

I actually think the Rams might beat out the Vikings for that 6th seed.

It would help us if they did..... they'd have to beat the hawks next week

Lol, right. That was an odd response to a pretty generalized statement.

I've been thinking this and it seems like it's headed that way where we will be the wild card team. I hope it's Dallas who we get.
I don't want us to go to GB and have to deal with that mess. Would rather face Dallas.

Seattle will win the division I predict. I really think the road to Miami will be through Seattle unfortunately.

Here are the tie-breaker rules:
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more teams in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two teams
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the teams).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

So, clearly, if SF and Sea both win the next 3 games, the winner of our week 17 game wins the division.

But, if we lose to NO and they win the next 3 games, but we beat them week 17, do we win the division? (We would have both lost only to the Saints, Ravens, and each other).

We'd have the same records. So, onto the tie-breaker criteria:
1 - Same
2 - Same
3 - Same
4 - Same
5 - Same
6 - Same
7 - Probably us?

Am I missing anything?

I misread #5 originally thinking it was point based but it's wins/losses for opposing teams. Is that actually same?

Non common opponents

49ers:
Packers - 9-3
Redskins - 3-9
Total: 12-12

Seahawks:
Eagles - 5-7
Vikigns - 8-4
Total: 13-11

:(

Right now they have the edge and Washington isn't going to help us at all.

Basically we just have to keep winning and throw all that other s**t out the window.

Yeah, a game back of the Vikings and seemed to get their groove back last week. I haven't looked at either's schedule going forward though but the Vikings seemed very unimpressive to me ATM.

Actually the Seahawks control their own destiny as well. If they win out, then they win the division.
Ugh Seattle. Well that sucked. Niners seem to have the mindset to take care of business. It's in their hands now. One game at a time.

I'll admit that I had a little bit of "good" Kirk Cousins envy last night. The dude rips a nice spiral into tight windows. Unfortunately, "bad" Kirk cousins is super capable of playing like s**t for stretches at a time, and has a history of wilting in the bigger games.

I thought the Vikings looked decent overall last night..... it was just a reminder of how hard it is to win in Seattle, especially once we get closer to the games that matter.

Sorry, back on track......I actually think I may prefer a first round game in Dallas over a first round bye. But I hate the thought of playing in NO or Seattle later

4-0 then take a week off, then go 3-0

I like the way you think. If any team can do that, it's the Niners. I'm just thrilled we most likely will make playoffs. Anything can happen once we get in. But we already proven we can we a lot of games in a row. Just need to start our next undefeated run.

Haha...yeah, Kirk Cousins. I knew if they didn't score coming right out of halftime it was over. The only way you beat Seattle is by getting up big and holding on for dear life while the officials do everything in their power to make it as competitive as possible up there.

It's going to be a grave injustice winning 12+ games and not even winning your division. It just makes us hate Seattle that much more and renews the rivalry.

No doubt it's going to be a tough road ahead esp. given every game we play we're guaranteed to lose at least one critical starter or more to injury. So the extra games are killers.
