The Niners may have to go on the road and win in the playoffs but 2 of our 3 losses happened at home. We've played well on the road so I'm not as concerned about that as getting some players back on the field.

With Seattle winning yesterday we were gonna have to win the last 2 games anyways. Yesterday's loss doesn't mean anything

What do you mean it doesn't mean anything? Lol

Even if we had won yesterday we still were gonna have to win the last 2 to win the division and get the #1 seed

Man, we put us in a position to have to "win out" and end it in Seattle. Do you know how hard that is? Instead, we could've won yesterday and who knows the Cards end up upsetting the Seahawks...which would make the week 17 game pretty much meaningless.

You have to create your luck sometimes but forget that now. Odds are stacked.

True. But who wants to play in GB, Seattle, or NO when you could be playing at home...
I know it's tough to watch this team struggle a little, losing 2 of our last 3 games but we need to put it in perspective. We had been dominating teams early in the season but we all knew the schedule would be tougher in the 2nd half of the year. Throw in the injuries to key players and you have a team trying to hang on and get healthy for the playoffs. Don't forget that we should have beaten the Seahawks but the missed FG gave Wilson another chance. The Ravens beat us with no time remaining and yesterday was another nail biter. It's not like teams are blowing us out even with all the injuries. In all 3 of our losses we have out gained the other team and held them under 300 yards total offense so it's not the end of the world. We're still in every game and that means we have a chance to win every game.
What happens if seattle beats AZ then loses to us
We lose to rams but beat seattle

tie breaker goes to strength of schedule?

People, loss today may have been the perfect wake up call. With our guys coming back next week and the following week we should be ready: we will run the table and be the 1 seed. Every team in the league has had a horrible game and lost by double digits: Forget the kickoff at the end today we have lost 3 games 7 total points. Suggs signing tomorrow would be perfect.

Who is coming back? I'm pretty sure Ford sits and I'd probably sit Sherman too. I'm not sure about the other guys. And yes, signing Suggs would be great. We need the extra edge, literally and figuratively.

I see the good and bad in this. The good, no one is really beating us, the way other teams have taken Ls this year. On the flip side, we had chances to close out teams in all 3 of our losses and did not. I think a lot of this is the Dee Ford factor. With him missing, we aren't able to put that consistent heat on a QB. Teams can do all kinds of things with Bosa with no other edge threat and then hold, hold, hold since refs aren't calling it. Our offense can move the ball and score, but we aren't at the point of getting a score where you absolutely need to score consistently yet. We'll see what this looks like in the playoffs.

The only reason yesterday's loss matters is because Seattle can now essentially treat next week's game as a Bye Week. They can rest injured guys. It doesn't matter if they lose. Conversely, if we had won yesterday we could have arguably treated the Rams game like a Bye Week but because we play on Saturday and Seattle plays Sunday I doubt the 49ers would have treated the game as such since a win and a Seahawks loss would have clinched the division.

With the #1 overall seed on the line, wouldn't make sense for Seahawks to rest anyone next week.

They can't get the #1 seed unless NO loses another game. I agree it's a long shot they rest next week.

tie breaker goes to strength of schedule?

If we both finish 12-4 but we beat Seattle and lose to Rams:

1. 1st tiebreaker is head to head. That would be even.

2. 2nd tiebreaker is division record. We both would have 2 division losses. Even.

3. 3rd tiebreaker is conference record. We would both have 3 conference losses. Even.

4. 4th tiebreaker is non conference record. We both lost to Baltimore. Even.

5. 5th tiebreaker is winning percentage of non-common opponents. Seattle played Vikings and Eagles. We played Green Bay and Washington. Currently Seattle wins this tiebreaker because Vikings/Eagles have a higher winning percentage. But if Vikings lose to GB and Eagles lose to Dallas next week, we would be tied in this category heading into Week 17 (assuming Washington beats the Giants).

6. 6th tiebreaker is points differential. We are well ahead of Seattle.

So we are rooting for Vikings and Eagles to lose out. Washington to win a game. GB to win out.

Sadly that's wrong. NO wins out, GB wins out, and SEA wins out so all three teams end up 13-3. First tie breaker doesn't apply, second tie-breaker is conference record eliminating NO then SEA wins common opponents tie breaker with GB.
I thought first tiebreaker was head to head. NO won head to head over Seattle. So between those two teams NO would own the tiebreaker.
Mondays suck after a loss. They just suck.

Three way tie in this scenario. Head-to-head only applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.
