You're right. If GB wins out as well, Seattle would get the No 1 seed. Well, good! Force them to play hard on Sunday.

I don't care as much about home vs road as I am the lack of the bye week.

Getting the bye week to rest up and recover from our injuries is the biggest thing. But playing at home with the crowd in our favor(even if it seems to struggle with staying loud during the game winning drive the whole time) would be much better than going on the road to New Orleans, GB or Seattle.

I know it's tough to watch this team struggle a little, losing 2 of our last 3 games but we need to put it in perspective. We had been dominating teams early in the season but we all knew the schedule would be tougher in the 2nd half of the year. Throw in the injuries to key players and you have a team trying to hang on and get healthy for the playoffs. Don't forget that we should have beaten the Seahawks but the missed FG gave Wilson another chance. The Ravens beat us with no time remaining and yesterday was another nail biter. It's not like teams are blowing us out even with all the injuries. In all 3 of our losses we have out gained the other team and held them under 300 yards total offense so it's not the end of the world. We're still in every game and that means we have a chance to win every game.

I see the good and bad in this. The good, no one is really beating us, the way other teams have taken Ls this year. On the flip side, we had chances to close out teams in all 3 of our losses and did not. I think a lot of this is the Dee Ford factor. With him missing, we aren't able to put that consistent heat on a QB. Teams can do all kinds of things with Bosa with no other edge threat and then hold, hold, hold since refs aren't calling it. Our offense can move the ball and score, but we aren't at the point of getting a score where you absolutely need to score consistently yet. We'll see what this looks like in the playoffs.

All true. It is concerning that we keep losing these close games while Seattle who is not near as good as us offensively or defensively keeps winning those games. Sooner or later those breaks have to turn around. Seattle is winning because of Wilson and no other reason. They also have been winning for a few years and know how to win those close games. This is new for us.
Just curious...who was the last 5th/6th seed to win the Super Bowl?

Ditto: I believe in that saying "Defense wins games", and I just don't understand why the 49er's have so many injuries year in and year out?
Nevertheless, I feel that the 49er's have done as well as I expected this year. I did think that they would make the playoffs.
How far they go will depend on how many healthy bodies they can put on the field.

You can't put a decimated team out on the field and expect them to win every game, even against a weak team.
This IS the NFL and there is very little that separates a top team from a bottom team.
The Rams are still technically alive, but lost resoundingly on Sunday afternoon on the road and then have to turn around and play on the road again on short rest. I think there's a psychological advantage for the Niners going into this game. The Niners will be looking to rid themselves of this last game and the Rams will have to get up for a second road game, plus knowing they need the Vikings to lose twice.

I actually see a similar situation for the Seahawks going against the Cards. They may have a dud as they look ahead toward our game.

I hope that this loss is actually the impetus for us to get two big wins in row.

Sucks that Seattle will be able to rest up and treat the upcoming week like a bye. Fully rested at home for the visit in the last week of the season.
Just win the f**k out

Could've sworn the Ravens were in the last too.

??

Even if you assume the Niners lose both games...the Seahawks still have to win for playoff seeding. There is no chance they view any of their two remaining divisional games as a bye.

Wow, thanks for the info! Basically it's going to take a miracle.

Hope I'm wrong! But right now we're tied... so imagine 9ers win and Seattle loses. Then Seattle is a win behind the 9ers.

Given that scenario, Seattle needs to win the last week of the season and if they do, both teams will be tied for first in the NFC West. And if Seattle wins, they'll obviously take the seed.

So yeah, isn't this Cards game for them irrelevant?

No, because this isn't just about winning the division. There are four teams tied with the same record (after Saints win tonight). And Minnesota is only one game back.

Unlike the Niners...Seattle DOES NOT hold tie breakers over all of those teams. They likely need to win out to control their destiny.
