For sure not 4 that's going to whomever wins the NFC east.
Basically what I'm hearing is this....

Even if SF loses this game vs LA (which I don't think they will) all they have to do is beat Seattle week 17.

They would have the same record at 12-4, same divisional record, same record vs the NFC and SF would have the better SOV (SF's 3 victories that Seattle doesn't have is better then Seattle's 3 victories that SF doesn't have).

Yes, but if the Saints keep winning, they'll be #1 and we'd likely have to head back to their dome or to Lambeau Field (assuming we win the divisional round).

If we're healthy, not a big deal, but man we are banged up. Winning out would be nice.
Beat the Rams Saturday and Seahawks next week and we will be the #1 seed that should be the only mentality the team and fans should have unless we end up losing either game.

Maybe that's to win the division. But that isn't good enough.

Need the 1 seed. Need to win them all.
Hear me out. How about we forget the 1 seed and rest our starters for the next two weeks since we're in the playoffs already. I believe being healthy in the playoffs is more important than risking injury for the 1 seed.
I read this somewhere and I had forgotten that we had our bye way back in September after our 3rd game. The team has been playing for 2 1/2 months with no break. I wonder how much that is affecting the injuries and the tired D line.

In my opinion, if we lay another stinker in the Rams game, I'm all for this.

I know it won't be a popular take, but I'd rather be fresh for the Wildcard then have home-field advantage with half a defense and banged up/fatigued offense.

What makes this team special is their depth, not Levis Stadium fan noise.
Start Mullens and bare minimal starters this week. If they beat the Rams (like last year) THEN you've got a rested team for up in Seattle. If they lose, you've got two weeks of rested starters and you go kill Dallas in Dallas.

Niners win out : #1 seed

Niners lose next week but beat Seattle: #3 seed

Niners lose both:#5 seed

We can only be #1 #5 or #6.

#1 #2 #3 and #4 are only for Division winners.

So we can be 1, 2, 5, or 6, but not 3-4?

Did you miss the 3 in the "playoff scenarios for the 1,2,3,5,6 seeds"? NFC East winner will be 4 seed.

true, but if SF and GB are both 12-4 (GB loses to Minn next week in Minn) and we win the NFC West (beat Seattle), do we not get the 2nd overall seed and a 1st rd bye? That gives us a week off and the first game is at home.

1st seed Saints-bye
2nd seed SF-bye
3rd seed GB
4th seed Dallas
5th Seattle
6th Vikings

I mean I want to win out and get home field the whole way thru no doubt. Just looking at other possibilities.

The problem is winning in Seattle just doesn't seem realistic unless we have EVERY starter back healthy. Excluding Richburg, Kwon, and Jones obviously.

The way the D has been playing the last 2 weeks, and the way our OL has looked lately makes me extremely skeptical that were going to go into Seattle and win.

Ultimately were good enough to win playoff games on the road. Were not like the Saints or Seahawks and become significantly better at home. But we need that first round bye in the worst way. This team is hurting and totally gassed after an early bye week.

you act like Seattle is some unstoppable force? Have you watched them the past two weeks? Got butt f**ked by the Rams and it took them all of 60 mins to beat Kyle Allen and a make-believe coaching staff.

We're not healthy BUT they're certainly not healthy either.

FWIW I'm not sure why people are hating on how the D played this past Sunday? They had only given up 17 pts to a top 10 offense until the very last play of the game. ATL was punting the ball all 2nd half. IF Julio get's tackled 5 inches to the left no one is talking about the defense. IF Kittle doesn't fumble the ball on that 3rd down we pick up a 1st and at the very worst kick a FG with like 30 secs left.

everyone is gasses it's week 16.

This is correct. Wish GB/Minn were playing before our game against the Rams. If/when GB loses I'd be all for another preseason style game to rest the starters.

Agreed 100%. People have PTSD from Seattle beating our asses for the past decade. They are NOT the same team and obviously neither are we.
