Race for the nfc west and the #1 seed

I read that if we win this week and Seattle loses, we still have to win in Seattle to take the division. Same in the reverse scenario.

Which makes this week weird, because it almost doesn't matter. Either way the winner in week 17 takes the division. I guess winning this week would guarantee the 1 seed if we then beat Seattle.

Correct, a win this week ensured that we get #1 overall or #5 depending on next week. If we lose tomorrow, we could be #1, 2, 3, 5, or 6.

If we get the #6 seed I would be tempted to punch somebody in the mouth after the way this year started. And I'm not a violent person.

Can I recommend Pete Carroll?
Has it still not dawned on people that Week 17 very well is the difference between the 1 seed and the 6 seed as long as Minnesota wins their last two games (both home games)?

Even if we win this weekend, that scenario doesn't change. Minnesota now has the tiebreaker on us because they beat Atlanta. We would have an identical conference record, so it comes down to record in common games.

We'd be really kicking ourselves over that Atlanta game if Seattle losses to AZ

If they would've won vs Atlanta, beat the Rams and Seattle losses to AZ? No

If Minnesota is 12-4, they'd win their division, and GB would be the 6th seed because we have the head-to-head.

If Minn loses to GB and wins the other one whilst we lose our next two, I think they get the #5 seed and we get #6 because of the common games tiebreaker. Not sure, I haven't run it through ESPN or anything.
if/when we lose, is it possible to still win the west if we beat seattle somehow?
With the 49er win today you can throw out the lower tiebreakers. Doesn't matter if Seattle wins or loses tomorrow - it's simply winner of next weekend's game wins the division.

The answer would have been yes.
Also - we just made Vikings fans very happy, eliminating the Rams and clinching them a playoff spot.
