Obviously the Niners winning on Sunday is paramount, but I think we want the Vikings to win tonight, to make it a 3 way tie for NFC North / #5 / #6 (GB, MIN, and SEA).
That way, with a Niners win (SEA loss) and wins by GB and MIN best week, SEA would have to go to either MIN or GB and not a cupcake PHI game.

the no1 or 2 seed? packers, Saints, cocks and 9ers were all in the mix.
I guess that makes sense. I'm thinking that if they were losing bad enough going into Q3 and Q4, they should have packed it up and planned on just beating us next week. It was 20-7 at the end of Q3. Our week 17 game has more significance anyway. What's the difference between seed 1 and seed 2? Is that worth 3 (3!) starters? Don't get wrong—it's about time they hard hard luck and had the injury bug.

Interesting scenario! Sea would travel to GB, who would be the #3 seed. GB would win the NFC North over Minn due to the divisional record tiebreaker.

This. Assuming the Saints and Pack win out, they aren't getting a bye week now no matter what

This will be especially hard on them with recent injuries.

I was kind of thinking the same thing last game vs the Rams. It's too radical for the NFL and could get you fired but.....
What if Shanny rested EVERY STARTER last game vs the Rams and Next week vs the Seahawks?
WC game regardless but you get the rest of a first round bye. No homefield but playoff fans pay top dollar to travel to see their team anyways. IDK It's radical as hell , but I wonder if any NFL HC every implemented that strategy going into the playoffs. Just a thought.

Honestly I can't tell if this is satire and sarcasm or not. I don't think coaches care much about fans paying top dollar, but I wonder if there is solid statistics of risk of injury vs benefit of home field advantage. Parang should be all over that. If injuries are more costly than home field advantage, then you definitely rest up regardless of seed. Highest seed vs Super Bowl winning, IIRC, has strong statistical correlation but that could be because of the rest.

Vegas bookies would put out a contract on the HC.

They were playing for #1 seed. Now they need lots of help.

Would've been a gift had we beaten Atlanta
Niners had a two week bye right in their clutches. Oh well.
Maybe it's for the better.
Niners came out flat after that 10 day bye earlier in the season.

It was more like 14 days. We played on 9/22 and didn't play again until 10/7. We won 31-3 so we weren't too flat.

I just realized you were talking about the 10 days prior to the Seahawks game. That wasn't a bye it was a Thursday game followed by a Monday game, Kind of a quirk in the schedule. I don't think we were flat. It was more that we were missing Kittle and our receiver were all dropping passes.

People keep b***hing about the Atlanta game.... It happened and SF lost. If we can't beat a banged up Seattle are we really legit SB contenders? I haven't been this confident about a game in Seattle for a long time. There would be nothing sweeter than watching the team celebrate the division and #1 seed in their stadium.

Let's hold a press conference at their 50 yd line eating ham and black eye peas opening gifts with Sherman Jimmy and Kittle at the table. Do unto them as they did unto us!
