I checked out half of the Cardinals/Falcons game and it seems like when Murray is in the pocket, he hits quick timing throws. When he's out of the pocket is when he hits his 15+ yard completions. I don't see why wide9 would be bad versus ARI. I don't see the 49ers moving away from it unless ARI starts hitting them with draw plays.

When he gets out of the pocket it becomes a nightmare because he'll backpedal and slowly move laterally waiting for the eventual coverage lapse and he has the arm and accuracy to put it on a dime 30 yards down the field.

His biggest issue has been stepping up into the pocket. He seems to lack comfort doing that and he is quick to checkdown if he can't get out of the pocket so they really have to stay disciplined to prevent those big passing plays.

He really does have a good arm and can throw on the move. I don't know if there is a big difference between him rolling left or right, but I would think that will also factor into how the 49ers plan their pass rush. One thing I've seen teams do versus mobile QBs is have a LB spy that has the green light to rush once the QB has escaped the pocket. I can see Kwon Alexander doing this so that once Murray does escape the pocket, his time is limited.

I would think that it's advantageous in keeping a shifty QB in the pocket. I am sure Kyler will make some plays with his legs, but if you make him throw over AA and Buckner, that could mean good things for the D.

Yeah, a 5'10" guy throwing over 6'8" and 6'7" looks really good for us.

That's pretty much how he has been for the games I have seen too. He is very accurate on those throws from the pocket, but he likes to throw short of the sticks too, which bodes well for our LBs.

For me, being in AZ surrounded by Cardinal fans, this is the game I have been waiting for. I want to see this defense against a shifty playmaking QB. I still have scars from all these years against Wilson

Assuming no major injuries vs. Arizona... I think Seattle is going to get blownout. They have struggled to beat even the very worst teams in the NFL...at home. Their defense is soft. They have no pass rush to speak of. And the entirety of their success is based on Russell Wilson performing at MVP levels. If he even dips from that slightly they have zero chance.

These next 3 weeks could essentially lock up the NFC West for the Niners.

If they go 3-0, not only can the Seahawks & Rams not break a head to head tie with the Niners but they will all be at least three games behind. And if they aren't already, Arizona will be eliminated from the playoffs for all intents and purposes.

Add the fact that we will have an extra 4 days to prep for Seattle given we will go from a Thursday night game to a Monday night game.

We saw what happened against the Browns when this coaching staff gets extra time to prepare.

I was telling my buddy that last week Kyler was getting a little Gabbert-y when he was being forced to throw from inside the pocket. There were a few times where he looked frantic moreso than just getting the ball out quick. He is a scary athlete, and makes a ton of plays on his talent alone, but I think he can be rattled pretty early on.

Watch for either a lot of stunts to freak him out and Alexander in a spy or a more patient pass rush looking to push the interior first and then the outside guys playing cleanup. With the height of Buck and AA in the middle it'll make it harder for Murray to see. It could also turn into a guessing game between Kingsbury and Saleh in where are they going to blitz from/move the pocket to with each one trying to stay out of predictability.

If he gets trapped in the pocket it almost seems like he become claustrophobic. His preference is clearly being on the outside, scanning the field and buying time with his feet.
I'm predicting an 8 sack performance from our D. They'll get down early and I expect 45+ throws from Murray

One thing Fangio used to do versus Wilson was have Aldon rush like normal, but it was Ahmad Brooks who was very patient and controlled in his rush. Almost as if he didn't really pass rush, just get upfield a bit then wait. Once Wilson rolled right, Brooks was there, in control, and able to pressure the escaping QB. All this to prevent the QB from freely rolling to his right.

Claustrophobic is a good word for it. I have seen him sack himself a few times trying to do the Russell Wilson spin move to break outside, when he had more time than he thought. He just seems frantic when there are DL in his face. He played the first half of the Alabama game like that too.

The good news is like with all the games this year, Buckner leads all DL with only 54 snaps. The DL, because of its rotation, has been fresh all years. Just keep bringing it in waves. Love the points about a spy and/or "controlled rush" on the edge...from at least one DE.
